Murderbot Episode 8 recap: Murderbot saves Gurathin but loses the trust of the team in the process
Since Gurathin’s health deteriorates as his body temperature increases, they had to decide to go to the habitat to save him. Since Gurathin doesn’t have a great track record with painkillers, due to his drug abuse in the past, Murderbot is tasked to help him not feel pain while they work on his knee.
To help Gurathin, Murderbot will be connected to his brain, so that he can block the central nervous system, which will help Gurathin as he might feel no pain. However, connecting to one’s brain might also make you see what goes on in it, and that's what happened to Murderbot and Gurathin.
The SecUni was confused with all the feelings and caught up to the one where he found that Gurtahin has strong feelings for Mensah and even blurts out in frustration at why she doesn't love him back, confusing the team as he doesn’t reveal the name. However, Gurathin, on the other hand, discovers Murderbot’s past, which does not help the team that couldn’t fully trust the SecUnit even now.
Gurtahin tells the PreservationAux team that the SecUnit has slain a whole mining community in the past and named itself Murderbot, creating another reason for the team not to trust the SecUnit.
Murderbot Episode 8 recap: Will the PreservationAux team trust Murderbot?
The new information has created a rift between the team and Murderbot as they don’t know how to proceed. Although their trust in the SecUnit seems to be dwindling, they also know that surviving without him would be much worse, as Ratthi voices. He knows staying alive without the bot would be a difficult task for them, as he has been helpful in many ways to them. However, Murderbot gets disappointed and walks away from the team for a while.
Other than violating personal space, the episode also saw Ratthi’s confession as he reveals that he is in love with Pin-Lee and not Arada. These new developments might bring a more difficult situation among the team in the upcoming episodes of the sci-fi series.
