Among the highly popular Korean fantasy-romance dramas is My Demon, which offers viewers a mix of corporate rivalry, supernatural elements and the emotional love story of Do Do-hee and Jeong Gu-won.

The drama kicked off with an unexpected contract marriage between the two, with Do-hee being a successful businesswoman and Gu-won, a centuries-old demon who suddenly loses his powers. His job was to exchange human souls by granting wishes of those in desperate need.

Over the years, he has grown cold and emotionally detached from humans, treating these exchanges as routine business. However, Gu-won also runs a successful traditional sword dance theatre with his loyal assistant Park Bok Gyu and a graceful dancer named Jin Ga Young.

On the other hand is Do Do-hee, the adoptive daughter of the powerful business family and the CEO of Mirae F&B, a major company under the Mirae Group. However, she grew up with toxic siblings who have always been plotting against her.

Things take a strange turn when Gu-won, after an attack on Do-hee, inexplicably loses all his powers. Turns out they are transferred to her through a mysterious tattoo and this is how their story begins.

Initially, wanting to get rid of each other, Do-hee and Gu-won fall hard for each other. However, Gu-won is a demon who later sacrificed himself to save Do-hee in the penultimate episode of My Demon.

In Episode 15, titled The End of Fate, Do-hee found herself once again in the crosshairs of Suk-min’s sinister plans. Although Gu-won had distanced himself from her, partly to keep her safe and partly due to his guilt over her parents’ past, he never truly left her side.

When Suk-min targeted them, Do-hee ended up taking a bullet that was meant for Gu-won. In that devastating moment, Gu-won broke the cardinal rule of being a demon: he used his power to bring Do-hee back from the dead.

This act of love in My Demon had dire consequences. After reviving her with a kiss, Gu-won immediately vanished because he broke a fundamental law of his existence.

His selfless act leaves Do-hee devastated in the last episode of My Demon, as she experiences the loss of her beloved. Her grief intensifies by the revelation that her parents' deaths were the result of a deal her father made with Gu-won to save her life before she was born.

This is why she lost her parents at a young age, as they were supposed to die after 10 years of Do-hee's birth. Joo Seok-hoon, who has also been in love with Do-hee, supports her emotionally due to the loss she has endured.

After losing Gu-won, Do-hee was left heartbroken, and the only thing that could make her smile was the return of Gu-won at the end of My Demon. As seen in Episode 16, Our Personal Heaven, it is Christmas Day and Do-hee visits the riverbank where she and Gu-won once shared a tender moment.

There, she makes a heartfelt plea for his return. Moved by her sincerity and Gu-won's earlier sacrifice, God grants her wish, reuniting the couple. Gu-won regains his powers and resumes his role not as a demon bound by contracts, but as a being transformed by love.

However, he gets worried that his revival might have been made at the cost of her soul, but God clarifies that there's nothing more to pay. As seen at the beginning of My Demon, Gu-won had made a bet with God.

By the penultimate episode, he won it by saving Do-hee, which means his return was the reward activated by Do-hee through her wish. Gu-won and Do-hee were meant to be together and in the end, they were able to put Noh Seok-min behind bars for his crimes.
