Ahead of the release of the final season of Squid Game, Lee Byung-hun, who plays Front Man in the hit Netflix series, shared some tidbits about the show and his life on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
In one such conversation, Lee Byung-hun opened up about how he had to keep his casting in Squid Game a secret from both his parents and friends. He told,
"Netflix asked me to keep it a secret. I didn't say to anybody, even my close friends and mom. So one day after Squid Game opened, my mom called me and yelled at me. How could you not tell me? Then she said, I was so embarrassed when I got a call from my friends, and then I said- I'm sorry."
Squid Game star Lee Byung-hun, aka Front Man, opens up about mask struggles and a hilarious moment with his son
When Jimmy Fallon asked Lee Byung-hun, aka the Front Man, whether it was uncomfortable to wear the mask and act. He answered,
"It's like pigeon hole view, you can barely see. If you go upstairs and downstairs, it's tough. I had to use my other senses, like a ninja."
Lee Byung-hun even shared a hilarious incident about how his ten-year-old son asked him,
"One day, he was still sad and asked me Why are you so mean? And when I said why, he said- You killed a lot of people."
In reference to the rapper and songwriter, T.O.P., Lee Byung-hun added,
"My son very close to T.O.P. Thanos in the story and he asked why did you hit him so bad."
The Squid Game star tried to make his son understand that it was a part of his role, but also confessed that he is too young to grasp the concept of acting entirely. He shared a few more funny father-son interactions.
He recalled when his son was three years old, he showed him a G.I. Joe clip on YouTube, and then he was like,
"Are you really?"
He asked his son to keep it a secret as well. When he asked his father about where the mask/weapon was, he playfully replied,
"It's in America at some storage. If I see some strong enemy I'm going to bring it back and few years later, he realized it's just a movie."
This was followed by a buzzer game where Byung-hun revealed more information about Season 3. Fallon also had an interesting query; he asked the actor whether more players are aware of his identity in the recent season, to which Lee Byung-hun replied yes with the buzzer. Meanwhile, the second question, when Fallon asked whether the Front Man would play a game in Season 3, he pressed both the buzzers, keeping it a suspense.
