Natasha Rothwell opens up about The White Lotus Season 4 being set in France, says ‘I had to keep secrets for Season 3’

A few weeks ago, it was reported that The White Lotus Season 4 would be headed to France. The previous season’s star and HBO’s boss then confirmed the reports. However, Natasha Rothwell, one of the few actors to have appeared in multiple seasons of the comedy drama, was oblivious to this information.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, the actress revealed that she had no idea about where the next chapter of the series was going to be set until now. Rothwell added that she is actually relieved that she is being kept in the dark, as she had a hard time keeping secrets for The White Lotus Season 3:

“I am Jon Snow. I know nothing, so this is news to me. Let me tell you, I love being the last to know when it comes to White Lotus, because I had to keep secrets for season 3 for two years.”

Natasha Rothwell’s costar from The White Lotus Season 3, Parker Posey, was one of the first ones to confirm that Season 4 will be shot in France. However, Rothwell said that she knows nothing about the show’s production location and is actually happy about it, as she does not want to relive the experience of keeping secrets again:

"I read the script [for season 3]. I just knew too much, and so, I love not knowing [about season 4]. I’m going to text Parker and ask her. I’m like, ‘Where did you find this out?’ I know nothing.”

Rothwell debuted the role of Belinda, a spa manager, in the first season, and later reprised her role in the third season, which premiered earlier this year. The character showed immense growth over the course of the show and became a fan-favorite. Talking about Belinda’s character development, Rothwell said:

“I think Belinda and I have a lot in common, but I think I’m farther along in terms of my growth. I think we see her very much putting everyone ahead of herself. As someone who’s a recovering people pleaser, when I put on a character that hasn’t figured out something that I have, it is such a reminder of how far I’ve come.”

The White Lotus follows a new set of hotel guests every season, who arrive at a luxurious hotel for relaxation, but, more often than not, get into trouble as their dark secrets and desires come out and their facades fall off.

Apart from Rothwell and Posey, the show has so far starred the likes of Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, Sydney Sweeney, Adam DiMarco, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

The first three seasons of the series were set in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, respectively. Series creator Mike White earlier revealed that he would like to stray away from a beach setting this time, and it was eventually announced that the fourth season will be filmed in France, although the exact locations remain to be confirmed.
