NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7 recap - Wheeler’s personal struggles spill into his work

NCIS: Origins Season 2 has been heating up the screen with some intense investigative cases. In Episode 7 titled ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, Cliff Wheeler (played by Patrick Fischler) finds himself struggling with her personal life challenges, which seems to have spilled into his work as well. The NIS team comes upon the murder case of a young marine.

Wheeler faces a personal dilemma in NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7

Wheeler has been having a hard time at home in this season of NCIS: Origins. His wife was not going to give him divorce easily and he had no meaningful relationship with his son. He was at this point leading a rather lonely life. But in this darkness, there was a ray of hope in the form of Detective Noah Oakley.

This period in time was particularly hard for the LGBT community, who could face much career scrutiny. Wheeler's wife wants to leave him, but not before asserting that she was taking everything away from him. Wheeler was in for a shock, but he had no time to ponder on it as duty calls. In NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7 , Wheeler will suddenly lose his cool at work and ends up revealing about the challenges at home. Mary Jo is empathetic and lets Wheeler take a moment for himself.

Vera and Lala have a disagreement over the former applying for a job to join the task force in DC. Lala is taken aback that Vera did not inform her about it. Gibbs is committed towards Diane. They even go on a double date with Randy and his wife, showcasing that Diane was in with his group.


The NIS team have a unique case in NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7

Franks gets a new case, the murder investigation of Marine Natasha. Natasha had just started working on a classified mission. She was found dead with stab wounds and, also appeared mauled by a cougar, outside the base. At the scene, Randy will meet a man with a unique weather pen that gets his attention. They both will have a casual chat about it as well.

In NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7, the team wanted to keep the cougar in case they come upon more evidence. There were people referred to ‘Cougar Crazies’, and did not want the cougar to be put down. Lala had no choice but to arrest one of them when they try to enter the station.

The NIS team wanted cougar’s excrement to see if there is any more evidence. They get a coin that was given to Natasha by Lieutenant Colonel Casey Montgomery. He had in fact picked Natasha for the mission and dropped her at the base. Franks is suspicious about Montogomery, who reiterates that he was only helping her with her new high-profile job, which is shrouded in secret.


Investigations uncover that Natasha could have known her murderer in NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7

It is however deducted in NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7 that Montgomery could not have committed the crime as he had gone to a motel after dropping Natasha. He was with his lover, another man. He however does recall that Natasha had spoken to a man in regular clothes at the base and it appeared that they knew each other.

Franks is considerate towards Wheeler's divorce and mentions his own breakup. Meanwhile, Mary Jo is also trying to intermediate between Lala and Vera, but fails.

During the interrogation of the colonel, Wheeler is left with a moral dilemma. He should report that Montgomery is gay, but can he do it with his own history? If he goes ahead, he will lose his job. Mary Jo is against it. She reveals that she knows about Wheeler’s affair with Noah as well and that taking down Montgomery, will also affect his career later. Wheeler decides not to report it.


Natasha’s murderer is caught in NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7

In NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7, the team tracks down the man in civilian clothes with whom Natasha was last seen talking to. He was a technician, with whom she had later gone to a bar. The team finds the weather pen in the trash that is traced back to him, thanks to Randy’s curiosity. They knew the man was guilty of the crime and arrest him.

It is revealed that while they together, Natasha did not want to get intimate with him and wanted to leave after a kiss. He got impatient with her and killed her.

As the curtains draw on NCIS: Origins Season 2 Episode 7, Wheeler will realize that Mary Jo has stood by him despite his outburst. He will make amends with her. He was also pushing for Noah to join the task force in DC that Vera wanted. Vera and Lala eventually let their disagreement take a back seat as the former decides to stay at NIS.
