A quick recap of NCIS Season 23 Episode 4

NCIS Season 23 Episode 4 featured a high-stakes kidnapping case, where a Marine (Sergeant Molly) had abducted the wife (Claire Gaines) of the Director of the Department of Justice (Deputy Attorney General Brett Gaines). Since Molly had a clean record in the Marines, the team was wondering about her motivation behind this kidnapping. The case took a shocking turn when Molly showed up at the NCIS headqaurters, with a former FBI agent's body in her car. Before Jessica could have questioned her, the FBI swooped in and took over the case.

Jessica still found a way to question Molly by sneaking into the FBI headquarters, which is when she learned the whole truth. It turns out that Gaines was an abuser and Molly was trying to help Claire through her underground group for abused women. Since Gaines was a powerful man, Claire was unable to seek traditional help and Molly duly rose to the occasion. After the truth was out, Molly was advised to lay low for a while and Gaines was arrested for attempted murder and abuse of his wife.

The official synopsis for the upcoming episode reads as follows:

A prison break by an inmate who had just three weeks left on a sentence compels the team to reopen the case of a naval officer's death that was originally investigated by Gibbs and Franks in the '90s.

As mentioned above, NCIS Season 23 Episode 5 will be a cross-over event with NCIS: Origins Season 2. The crossover event will feature a special case, creatively linked between Gibbs' past and present. The case will kick-start with a naval officer's death in the 90s, which will be re-opened by Parker's team decades later.

In addition to this first-ever crossover event, Episode 5 will also mark the return of Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. For fans eager to learn about Gibbs' life in Alaska post-retiremnet, the upcoming episode will be a treat. Harmon was essentially synonymous with the military procedural and the fans are in for a treat in the next episode.

Fans can expect a high-stakes and nostalgic case which will finally (and briefly) reunite the A-team with their OG leader.
