Below is the main cast of Netflix's latest period series:

Pio Marmaï as Nero: Netflix's latest period drama is led by French actor Pio Marmaï, who plays the titular role of the assassin. Employed by the consul of Lamartine, Nero finds himself caught between the social issues bubbling in 16th-century France and a historic drought. After a personal setback, Nero discovers that he fathered a daughter named Perla, who grew up in an orphanage. He sets out to be reunited with Perla and save her from the impending danger in Néro the Assassin.

Netflix's latest series marks the first lead role for actor Pio Marmaï on the small screen. He previously made an appearance in the French adaptation of In Treatment/Betipul. However, the actor is widely known for his diverse roles in films, including The Three Musketeers: Milady and The Ties That Bind Us.

Alice Isaaz as Hortense: In addition to Marmaï's Nero, French actress Alice Isaaz leads the Néro the Assassin cast as Hortense, the daughter of Nicolas de Rochemort, Nero's employer. While Hortense is about to be married to Tancrede, her father orders Nero to kill her groom and betroth her to the Prince of Segur.

Isaaz voiced the character of Joan of Arc in 2022's fantasy animated movie Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again. The actress is best known for her roles in films The Gilded Cage and La Crème de la crème.

Olivier Gourmet as Horace: Belgian actor Olivier Gourmet rounds up the Néro the Assassin cast as Horace, the monk who runs the orphanage where Perla grew up. After Nero arrives at Horace's orphanage to find his daughter, the monk promises to help him protect the young girl from the one-eyed witch.

Gourmet received the Best Actor Award at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Le Fils by the Dardenne brothers, the iconic Belgian filmmaking duo.

Supporting cast in Néro the Assassin

In addition to these main players, the Netflix period drama also boasts an impressive ensemble of supporting actors, who are as follows:

Louis-Do De Lencquesaing plays Nicolas de Rochemort, Nero's employer. Rochemort is a calculating individual who employs the titular assassin to murder his daughter's groom. He plans to make a political match for his daughter to Segur's prince, which will yield him power.

Camille Razat plays the one-eyed antagonist in Néro the Assassin. The Emily in Paris star is an exciting addition to the show's cast, whose character is an all-powerful and nefarious villain.

Lili-Rose Carlier Taboury plays Nero's recently discovered daughter Perla. The young woman is at the heart of the show's narrative, the lastborn child of the devil who can bring an end to the drought.

Rounding up the Néro the Assassin cast are Yann Gael, David Talbot, Max Baissette de Malglaive, Noam Morgensztern, Sandra Parfait, Quentin D'Hainaut and Raphael Roger Levy.
