Stranger Things hangover is not over yet. The show had concluded on December 31, 2025, with its 8th and final episode of Season 5. The way the show ended left many wondering about future storylines that could answer questions and complete the tale.

The last season ended on an ambiguous note, bringing characters into a heartfelt reunion moment playing their favourite games, D&D. Eleven's whereabouts remain a lingering question and so does the future trajectory of key characters like Mike Wheeler, Joyce and Hopper and Murray Bauman.

These three spin-off ideas can look potentially perfect if, at all, Netflix offers them and brings them to life:

Three Stranger Things spin-offs after the disappointing finale

1. The Joyce and Hopper hook

The way Stranger Things season 5 ended brought some disappointment to the viewers. Some fans pointed out the absence of Demogorgons in the penultimate fight against Mind Flayer and Vecna, while others spoke about how the finale felt rushed. But the season also offered some deeply happy and emotional tease despite the season's character losses.

When Stranger Things Season 5 came to a close, the Upside Down collapsed, and Eleven is shown to be (apparently) sacrificing herself in the collapse. Many wondered if she survived the event, but many also kept wondering how Hopper would cope after he watched Eleven die.

But the viewers are offered a happy resolution to Hopper's question. Hopper is seen in a date with Joyce in a restaurant. This was something Hopper had planned before but the date did not happen when Joyce failed to show up.

Stranger Things tells us that the couple may move to the town called Montauk, where Hop will work as the chief. This links the nudge to the Duffer Brothers' lined-up "Montauk." It could also deal with the Montauk project.

The scientific experiment angle is something that the core show has already dealt with heavily through its seasons. But the spin-off potential of this idea cannot be ignored completely, mainly because Hopper and Joyce had been at the center of the fight against Vecna, but also in unfolding secrets.

2. The Murray Bauman narrative gap

Murray Bauman was the source of support, conspiracy theories and humor for Stranger Things Season 4 and 5. But in the Season 5 finale, he was mostly relegated to a short appearance during the graduation ceremony.

Fans cannot help but notice the big burning questions related to his arc: What happened to him? Did he join the government or remain as he always was: proving to be a support and a towering, lively presence.

Murray was an expert in chalking out conspiracies; his mind was curious and active. This is why a job that needed him to lie low and gather information for the government may be fitting.

We should not underestimate his fighting skills against Yuri, which remained a fun and tense scene in Season 4 of Stranger Things. He was also pivotal in the plan against the military to enter Upside Down in the team's final crawl. For someone with as much hands-on experience with planning and fighting, a spin-off on his arc may be fitting.

3. What does Eleven do after the Season 5 events

Eleven was the anchor of the show who shared friendships with other core members of the Party and protected them in times of need. The final fight was won when Eleven defeated Vecna with the help of her friends.

Eleven's character is teased to have survived in the last reunion scene. Mike teases through a story that she may have escaped the collapse with the help of Kali.

Now that it is established visually in the show that Eleven has escaped to a place with three waterfalls, as she had discussed with Mike before, fans may be excited to know what happened to her thereafter.

She may come across new adventures or her biggest challenge may be to lie low and hide her psychokinetic powers from the evil military. She may build a life as someone entirely different. All of these scenarios make for plot points that fans would potentially get their much-sought-after answers from.
