Brandon Larracuente will be the latest to join the Firehouse 51 crew in the NBC drama series, Chicago Fire, as Sal Vasquez. NBC has shared a few new stills and a featurette to reveal a few details about his character.
The 14th season of the show will soon return to the network with a few actors departing from the cast, while a few more will join the Firehouse crew, which includes Sal Vasquez. As the show is slowly approaching its premiere date in October, Collider reveals its title, Kicking Down Doors, and its logline, which reads:
"A new face at Firehouse 51 causes tension, while rising chaos in the city brings new challenges to the team. Herrmann stalls on the plans of relinquishing his office to Mouch."
Larracuente, the 30-year-old actor playing Vasquez, recently spoke with TVInsider about his character and how it will fit into the show's narrative with a crew far more prepared for their urgent crises. He said,
“Sal is good at his job, and he knows it. He wants to be the best he can be at his job and to protect those around him while he’s doing it.”
Brandon Larracuente arrives in the Chicago Fire cast as Sal Vasquez
Brandon Larracuente has been brought in the 14th season of Chicago Fire as a young firefighter, all set to join Firehouse 51, while Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) and Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) are leaving the ensemble, according to Collider. That being said, Larracuente seems excited to see how Salvador “Sal” Vasquez plays out in the show's next turbulent chapter.
Speaking about his character, he told TVInsider,
“For me, the thing that I’m more excited about is to see how my character, Vasquez, interacts with all the other characters and how that changes the whole dynamic of the firehouse.”
Showrunner Andrea Newman earlier shared her reaction about Larracuente's character, and who or what he might be up against in the 14th season. She told TVInsider,
“The charming Sal Vasquez is the new addition to 51, and, like Severide, this character is rich with family history in the first responder world, much of it buried. But not for long. Vasquez will prove a real challenge to Kidd, his new lieutenant, as well as to Novak as she tries to get to know this seemingly unknowable guy.”

In line with this, Miranda Rae Mayo, who plays Lieutenant Stella Kidd, shared how Kidd and Vasquez's equation might be in the new Chicago Fire season. The actress said,
"Kidd is just kind of annoyed by the cockiness that he portrays."
Besides them, the cast will include:
- Taylor Kinney as Lieutenant Kelly Severide
- Christian Stolte as Lieutenant Randall "Mouch" McHolland
- Hanako Greensmith as Violet Mikami
- Jocelyn Hudon as Paramedic Lizzie Novak
- David Eigenberg as Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann
- Dermot Mulroney as Battalion Chief Dominick "Dom" Pascal
- Joe Minoso as Joe Cruz
Randy Flagler, Anthony Ferraris, and Katelynn Shennett will make up the recurring cast members, playing Capp, Tony, and Kylie, respectively.
The fourteenth season of Chicago Fire is set to premiere on October 1, 2025.
