After 13 seasons of battling flames and personal conflicts at Firehouse 51, Chicago Fire is charging ahead into a new season.
NBC just confirmed that Season 14 will premiere on Wednesday, October 1st, at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific. The firefighter drama keeps its familiar spot between Chicago Med (8 p.m.) and Chicago P.D. (10 p.m.) for the famous One Chicago lineup of procedural shows. Catch it live or stream it the next day on Peacock.
But the firehouse doors won't stay the same for everyone. Some familiar faces are leaving for good this season, while others will take on more responsibility. Expect storylines around adoptions, pregnancies, and simmering romances. And keep an eye out --- a new Lieutenant Mouch is stepping up.
Below is what we know before the sirens sound again!
The cast of Chicago Fire Season 14
Firehouse 51 has a revolving door these days. Have you noticed?
Season 14 is seeing longtime cast members pack their gear. Daniel Kyri (who played Darren Ritter for seven seasons) posted an Instagram farewell in August. Jake Lockett (Sam Carver) is leaving, too, right after that kiss with Violet. Michael Bradway (Jack Damon) landed a Prime Video role, so he's out as well.
But it's not all goodbyes on Chicago Fire!
Taylor Kinney's back as Severide. He partners with Miranda Rae Mayo's Stella Kidd, and her pregnancy promises to be one of this season's anchors. Christian Stolte’s Mouch steps up as Lieutenant, while David Eigenberg’s Herrmann adjusts to life after stepping down. Dermot Mulroney’s Dom Pascal (cleared of his wife’s murder) might finally bond with the team. Plus, Hanako Greensmith’s Violet and Jocelyn Hudon’s Lizzie still stitch everyone back together.
What to expect from Chicago Fire Season 14?
Though NBC hasn't released a trailer yet, last season's finale left plenty of questions hanging. Fans will likely see Ritter's goodbye early on. Violet's got more than heartbreak ahead now that Carver's officially moved to Denver. She'll be pushing through her emotions while staying focused at work.
Over at Engine 51, the leadership shifts.
Mouch stepping up to lieutenant means the station's joker is now calling the shots. Herrmann's demotion could cause friction; he's been there for decades and takes pride in that firehouse.
Then there's Stella and Severide. After years of ups and downs, adoption struggles, and drama, they're finally expecting a baby! Showrunner Andrea Newman hinted the storyline could go several ways, and longtime viewers know One Chicago pregnancies don't always end happily.
Still, this might be the core of Chicago Fire Season 14.
