Ahead of the release of the fifth episode of It: Welcome to Derry, the makers have released a mid-season trailer that might reveal more about Pennywise's origin story in the series. The first four episodes of the season are already out, and so far, fans have not seen a glimpse of the fearful clown, Pennywise.
However, with the mid-season trailer drop, fans can expect this to change and are anticipating that Pennywise will finally make his appearance in the fifth episode.

Pennywise's appearance in the trailer is rather ominous, as he is seen speaking to someone, presumably Lilly, and thanking her for convincing everybody to come meet him because she was such a good friend. He has blood smeared all over his face as he is heard expressing a desire to know how she tastes, as the young character can be seen backing away from him.
In yet another appearance from the trailer, Pennywise is seen in front of a fiery background as he tries to convince Dick, Ronnie, and other characters to come join him. This setting is familiar to what was already seen in the pre-release trailers, so it does not reveal a lot of new information.
Now, while this mid-season trailer gives the audience an insight into how they can expect Pennywise to appear on the show, there is still no clarity as to when the dreaded clown will finally make his appearance in the show. However, with the first four episodes now out, fans can expect that Pennywise will make his first appearance on the show in the fifth episode, scheduled to premiere on Sunday, November 23, 2025 on HBO.
The trailer also makes it clear that the primary focus of Pennywise's attention will be Lilly this season, along with some focus on Dick among the adults. It can be expected that the series will ramp up the horror element in the show with the presence of Pennywise in the latter half of the show.
Aside from the introduction of Pennywise into the series, the second half of the show will also see some of the major characters going through developments, as Lilly is seen digging into Bob Gray's history, and Marge joining the Losers Club of the 60s, among many other such interesting plot developments.
The next episode of It: Welcome to Derry is scheduled to release on November 25th, 2025, at 9 PM ET, and will be available for streaming on HBO and HBO Max. The final episode of the show will feature on December 14, 2025, 9 PM ET.
