CBS’s FBI spinoff series, CIA, has added another popular name from Dick Wolf’s One Chicago universe.

Natalee Linez, who appeared in Chicago P.D. and played the character of Valeria Soto, is the newest addition to the series starring Tom Ellis. She is part of the main cast and will play Gina Rojas in CIA, which is set to premiere in midseason 2026.

The other actor from the One Chicago universe who is part of the FBI spinoff is Nick Gehlfuss, who we have seen in Chicago Med as Dr. Will Halstead. Gehlfuss initially left the series after Season 8 but has joined as a guest star in Season 11 of the fan-favorite medical drama.

More on this in our story.

CIA: Chicago P.D. actress Natalee Linez is the latest addition to the FBI spinoff

CBS first ordered the FBI spinoff series in January 2025 and was supposed to premiere in the fall of 2025. The upcoming CBS show narrates the story of two CIA agents with contrasting personalities working on various cases to solve any impending threat in the US.

One of the agents will be portrayed by Tom Ellis, who is described as someone who is not afraid to break rules and is talkative, while the other agent, played by Gehlfuss, is the complete opposite of Ellis’s character. He is intelligent and believes in following the rules. However, they are both roped in together to solve the cases and will have to find a way to learn to do that.

As per Deadline, Chicago P.D.’s Natalee Linez will be part of the team and will play a CIA analyst, Gina Rojas. The other main character, Michael Michele, will portray the head of the CIA’s New York station.

Natalee Linez joined Chicago P.D. in Season 12, Episode 3, and was last seen in Episode 17 of the same season. Other than the procedural drama, Linez has also appeared in popular series Tell Me Lies as Lydia Montgomery and Power Book III: Raising Kanan as Jessica Figueroa.

The FBI spinoff was initially slated to release this year in the fall season. However, Deadline reported that in July 2025, CBS decided to release the show in 2026. The decision came amidst a major change happening on the show. David Hudgins, the showrunner of FBI: Most Wanted, was initially tapped to create the upcoming CBS show, but later, he was replaced by Warren Leight, who is now the showrunner of the FBI spinoff.

Leight is also the executive producer of the upcoming CBS show, along with Dick Wolf, David Chasteen, and several others.

CIA will premiere in 2026, while FBI Season 8 will premiere on October 13, 2025.
