Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building premiered in 2021 and has garnered numerous Primetime Emmy nominations.
The acclaimed comedy show was nominated in two categories at the Emmys 2025. However, on September 14, 2025, the fan-favorite show did not win in any of the categories.
The mystery-comedy drama follows the story of three characters, who become friends while investigating murders that happen in their apartment building, and begin a true-crime podcast based on those murder cases.

Emmys 2025: Only Murders in the Building misses out on winning any Award
At Emmys 2025, Only Murders in the Building’s Martin Short, who played the character of Oliver Putnam, was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Category. He was nominated along with Adam Brody, Jason Segel, Jeremy Allen White, and Seth Rogen, who won the Award on September 14, 2025.
The other category the Hulu series was nominated in was the Outstanding Comedy Series, along with The Bear, Hacks, Abbott Elementary, Nobody Wants This, What We Do in the Shadows, Shrinking, and Studio, which took home the win that night. Seth Rogen’s The Studio dominated the comedy genre Awards in Emmys 2025, winning 13 Awards, a record-breaking feat, which was previously held by FX’s The Bear.
While Martin Short and the other main characters have been nominated for Primetime Emmys, they have not yet won in the category. However, the popular show has earned eight Creative Arts Emmy Awards over the years.

Since 2021, Only Murders in the Building has been one of the top shows on Hulu. Numerous Hollywood stars have also appeared in guest-starring roles in the series, including Meryl Streep and Eugene Levy, among others.
The show has returned with a new season and has released three episodes on September 9, 2025. The new season will see the Arconian trio investigate the murder of the apartment building’s doorman, Lester, played by Teddy Coluca.
Michael Cyril Creighton, who joined Only Murders in the Building in Season 3 as Howard, a resident of the Arconia, recently talked with Us Weekly about the cast trying to avoid spoilers about the show, as it is a murder mystery show. However, he also said that they still shared their views with other cast members while filming.
He shared:
"There are certain crew members that you trade theories and you’re like, ‘I think it’s this person because of such and such.’ That’s always sort of fun. It’s more like a game of theorizing and guessing, but most people generally know."
He continued:
"A lot of us don’t want to know who it is until that script comes out. But my eyes are always open. I’m always watching how people are acting on set to see if they’re acting suspicious when the cameras are off."
Other than the main cast members, Keegan-Michael Key, Renée Zellweger, Dianne Wiest, Logan Lerman, and Christoph Waltz are among several others who will appear in Season 5 of the Hulu series.
