Daredevil: Born Again has been renewed for a third season on Disney+.

The news comes directly from Brad Winderbaum, who oversees streaming, television, and animation at Marvel Studios. In an interview with IGN, revealed that the series has been greenlit and cameras will roll again in 2026. This statement cleared up weeks of mixed messages that had left the future of the series uncertain.

The timing matters. The announcement did not arrive with trailers or a staged reveal. It came in during an interview, but its impact was immediate. After comments from Charlie Cox hinted that the second season could be the last, fans were left unsettled. Then Vincent D’Onofrio suggested otherwise, saying there was a very good chance of continuation. The confirmation now gives a clear direction: the show is not ending after two years.

Marvel had already positioned Daredevil: Born Again as more than a limited run. The renewal locks in that strategy, showing that the character will remain at the heart of Marvel’s television output on Disney+.

The road so far for Daredevil: Born Again

The journey to this point has not been smooth. Born Again began life as something closer to a reboot than a continuation of the Netflix series. Scripts were reshaped, directors changed, and the project paused for a creative overhaul in 2023. New episodes were written, a pilot re-shot, and the tone shifted closer to the darker style that made the earlier series stand out.

Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock. Vincent D’Onofrio stepped back into the role of Wilson Fisk. Their presence carried the connection to the Netflix version, giving weight to the relaunch. When the first season finally landed on Disney+ in March 2025, it carried that mix of old and new. Reviews pointed out the uneven production history but also noted the strong performances.

Clearing the confusion

Uncertainty grew after Cox, speaking at an event, called the second season the final one. His words spread quickly, sparking questions over whether the revival would last. Within days, D’Onofrio pushed back, calling it a mistake and stressing that more episodes were likely. The back and forth created tension, with fans unsure whom to believe.

The official word from Winderbaum ended the guessing game. Season 3 is confirmed, and production is set for 2026. That statement provided assurance and reset expectations for the show’s future.

What arrives with season 2

Before the third season goes into production, Daredevil: Born Again will return with new episodes in March 2026. The story will pick up with Matt Murdock facing Wilson Fisk, who now holds the office of New York City mayor. Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force will play a major role, tightening the net around heroes who operate outside the law.

The season also brings back Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, marking her return to the Marvel world. Her presence links Born Again to other Defenders characters and deepens the street-level setting. There is also speculation around Luke Cage. Mike Colter, who played the role on Netflix, is confirmed to appear at New York Comic Con alongside Ritter, Cox, D’Onofrio, and Deborah Ann Woll. His return to the storyline itself has not been announced, so for now it remains an open question.

Why season 3 matters

For Marvel Studios, the third season shows a larger shift. Winderbaum has said that the goal is to move away from short, limited runs and instead build shows that last. He described Daredevil: Born Again as a story with many paths left to explore in New York. The confirmation reflects that approach, treating the series as an anchor rather than a brief experiment.

The character of Daredevil fits this model. Street-level stories allow for gradual development, small conflicts that build into larger arcs. By securing a third season, Marvel signals that the show will not just bridge into films but stand on its own as a recurring title.

Looking ahead

The release plan is clear for now. Season 2 arrives in March 2026. Filming for season 3 begins later that year. With Jessica Jones already confirmed and speculation about other familiar faces, attention around the show will remain high. Official details beyond that are limited, but the renewal itself ensures that momentum continues.

Daredevil: Born Again has moved from uncertainty back to stability. The series is now positioned as one of Marvel’s most important ongoing projects on Disney+. Its continuation confirms that the man without fear will remain a central figure in Marvel television for years to come.
