Mike Colter's Luke Cage is a fascinating but underrated character in the Netflix Marvel Universe. While Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock are absolutely beloved, the Mike Colter-led series also deserves to be in the running for the Netflix Marvel Universe in terms of getting the character right. As Disney is slowly gathering the Netflix Marvel characters, many fans are hoping that Luke Cage will also return.

For the uninitiated, Netflix started pulling the plug on the Netflix Marvel shows in 2018 due to rights reasons. However, Disney slowly started to integrate the Netflix Marvel Universe almost three years later, with Charlie Cox's cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio in Hawkeye. These cameos ultimately culminated in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, which streamed early this year.

The second season, featuring Jessica Jones' return, is rumored to be a mini Defenders reunion as fans believe that Mike Colter and Finn Jones might return as Luke Cage and Danny Rand.

Explaining the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2's Luke Cage rumor:

The first season ended on a cliffhanger, confirming that the second season will continue the storyline. As of now, we know two things about Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. It will follow Matt trying to bring down Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin's oppressive mayoral regime, and for that, he will be helped by Jessica Jones. Actress Krysten Ritter was confirmed to return as Jessica Jones in May this year.

Her return has led many to theorize that Mike Colter and Finn Jones would also be back in their respective roles. However, their return has not been officially confirmed. However, New York Comic-Con recently announced a panel in which Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Charlie Cox are participating. This announcement added fuel to the rumor that Colter and Jones are back.

But Luke Cage and Danny Rand's return has not been confirmed officially. However, Daredevil: Born Again Seasons 1 and 2 showrunner Dario Scardapane's comments to Entertainment Weekly in an April interview after the finale suggested that they have Matt's Defenders collaborators, including Luke Cage, in their mind:

"Without giving too much away...when you're working in what I would call the Hell's Kitchen corner of the MCU, those iconic characters are always in your mind. The thing is that — and this is kind of hard, I'm trying to thread a needle here — you want to bring in people and relationships and past figures in Matt's life because they help the story, particularly in terms of a story where Fisk has taken over the city. And there is a resistance and a rebellion, so to speak, rising. So there's going to be people, vigilantes, superheroes that are involved in that. There has to be because this is happening to their city. That said, you also want to create a completely organic story for that. So who comes in and why has to be beyond anything earned. So the easiest answer to your question is, yes, those characters that you just listed off are absolutely in my head and everybody's head as we're working. How that manifests itself is both really tricky writing-wise and a pretty closely guarded secret at this point. So I'm being intentionally cagey, but I'm also saying, 'Hell yeah!' in terms of it's something we're thinking about.""

Considering Krysten Ritter was officially confirmed to return as Jessica Jones a month later, Mike Colter might also return to his Marvel role of Luke Cage soon. And this New York Comic-Con panel is where his and possibly even Danny Rand/Iron Fist's return might be officially confirmed.
