According to the latest reports, Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey Fowler is making his return to the world of television in Minimarket, an Italian comedy series by broadcasting company RAI. The show, as per Variety, centers on an Italian artist named Manlio Viganò, played by Filippo Laganà, and his "artistic conscience and unpredictable mentor," portrayed by Spacey. Their dynamic drives a journey that blends conflict with elements of comedy.

Minimarket follows the struggle of an aspiring actor who earns his living by serving at a convenience store in Rome. As already confirmed by Variety, the 10-part series will premiere this December on RAI's streaming platform. Minimarket also marks Kevin Spacey's return to television since his controversy related to Netflix's House of Cards, which led to a significant slump in his acting career.

Minimarket represents two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey's return to television after several years. As per recent reports, he has been "living in hotels" and "Airbnbs" for a while following the s*xual assault charges against him during his House of Cards (2017) days. In a recent interview, the 66-year-old actor also opened up about his living conditions, mentioning that he literally has "no home."

In 2023, Spacey was acquitted of all charges. Afterward, his professional and financial situation went awry, with limited professional prospects at the time until his TV return was announced through the Italian comedy-drama series Minimarket. According to a logline shared by Variety, the series will feature two stories unfolding simultaneously from different perspectives.

The first one is:

"The experience of a man who has been on the world’s most important [movie and TV] sets."

The other narrative follows:

"The recklessness of someone who does not realise that they have an Oscar-winner by their side."

The series will be released on broadcaster RAI's streaming service, RaiPlay, on December 26, 2025, with further plot details being kept under wraps. Following the controversy, Kevin Spacey first returned to the big screen in the United States in March 2024 with his neo-noir thriller Peter Five Eight.

Besides two Academy Awards, Kevin Spacey has also received several other recognitions, including one Tony Award, one BAFTA Award, two Laurence Olivier Awards, and one Golden Globe. Sources suggest that Spacey's image in the Italian acting industry has remained largely positive. During his career dip, the Emmy Award nominee took on several low-budget projects, including L'uomo Che Disegnò Dio and The Contract.
