Ponies: What roles will Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson play in the upcoming Peacock thriller? Plot details revealed

Emilia Clarke is returning to the small screen with her upcoming spy thriller show Ponies that will have an exclusive premiere on Peacock this January. The first look at the highly anticipated series by Universal Television was revealed last month, with glimpses of Clarke's character alongside Haley Lu Richardson.

Susanna Fogel is at the helm of the project with well-known American novelist David Iserson, and both of them have executive-produced the show as well. The story of Ponies revolves around two individuals (portrayed by Clarke and Richardson) whose lives get entwined in undercover operations of the intelligence department following a tragedy. The official synopsis of the Peacock thriller, per IMDb, reads:

"Two secretaries at the American embassy in 1970s Moscow become CIA operatives after their husbands are killed, uncovering a Cold War conspiracy behind the tragedy."

Game of Thrones icon and Emmy-nominated actress Emilia Clarke will lead the cast of Ponies, a story that centers on two women (Bea & Twila) who serve the US Embassy in Moscow as anonymous secretaries, set against the backdrop of 1977. Clarke will portray Bea, while alongside her, we have The Edge of Seventeen star Haley Lu Richardson playing the part of Twila.

Amidst the geopolitical tumult in the USSR, their husbands are murdered under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind a string of unanswered questions for their widows. However, the two women cope with the loss and team up to track down their husbands' killers. Bea & Twila start working as CIA officers to investigate the case and soon learn that the murders are a part of a large conspiracy brewing on a global scale, and it just might be the start of a Cold War.

Clark and Richardson reportedly joined the cast of the Peacock thriller in 2024, followed by other key stars who came on board in early 2025. Among others in the cast of Ponies, we have:
