Nobody Wants This just knows how to be relatable. The series isn’t afraid to explore the deep and dark waters of the emotional gray zone. But by doing so, it also leaves the viewers wondering what’s actually going on between its characters.

One of the biggest question marks has always been Sasha and Morgan. Are they friends, or is there something more between them? In the show, their connection begins because of their siblings, but then it becomes one of the most talked-about relationships in the show. Viewers can’t seem to agree or decide if something is going on, or if they are just really good friends.

Sasha and Morgan first met because their siblings, Noah and Joanne, are dating. They eventually become friends who find comfort in each other’s company. They share things they can’t tell anyone else. Morgan, who usually shares everything with her sister Joanne, finds herself confiding in Sasha instead. Especially about things like her situation with Dr. Andy in Nobody Wants This Season 2. Their bond grows deeper, and they become each other’s safe space. However, this season, we get an almost clear answer to their connection.

Nobody Wants This: The truth behind Sasha and Morgan’s connection

Nobody Wants This doesn’t play by the usual drama rules. According to common TV tropes, Sasha and Morgan’s connection should have turned into a scandal. But this Netflix series knows how to stand apart from the rest.

It explores how two people can form a deep bond without crossing the line. They trust each other and talk about things that others might judge them for. It is an emotional connection that's built on empathy. Nobody Wants This Season 2 makes it clear that their relationship isn’t romantic at all.

Simon, who plays Sasha, told Today:

"I’ve described this to people as like, whether it’s romantic, whether it’s friendship, whatever it is, there’s clearly a connection between those people. They might not know what it is. They might not know where it’s going. But they have clearly found kinship or a shared world view that leads to an attraction."

He further says:

"These two people occupy the same roles in their families even though they had very different upbringings. You can’t help but be like, ‘I want to talk to that person more because we understand going through the world in the same way.'"

Lupe, who plays Morgan, says:

"They’re both weirdos. There’s a part of them that relates to each other. There’s a weird magnetic draw and it’s unclear whether it’s platonic or romantic or something in between. It’s vague and it feels honest in that way."

She further says:

"Being a grown-up in a very committed relationship and meeting a new friend of the opposite s*x who is also interested and hot. It’s like, on the one hand, socially the acceptable thing to do is just be friends with the people you were with when you got together. But as I say that ... that’s absurd."

Neither characters don't quite fit in, and they feel like, perhaps, only they understand each other. However, that might not always point or lead towards love. But this also doesn't remove the possibility of it happening.

Moreover, when Esther tells Sasha they can no longer be together, he tells Morgan he’ll wait for his wife no matter how long it takes. And Morgan, who has just broken her engagement, admits Sasha is really a good guy. They seem like really good friends at this point in the series.

But judging by what happened between them in Nobody Wants This Season 1, there was indeed some sort of chemistry between them. Now, have they suppressed it? We don't know that yet. Perhaps we will know more in the future seasons.
