Nobody Wants This Season 2 was one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Fans were eager to watch the next chapter and see where Noah and Joanne's love story is after the success of Season 1. It has all the familiar rom-com tropes you would expect; you have the butterflies-in-your-tummy kind of love, the meet-cutes, etc. The series has that warm and easily digestible vibe. But there is something different about it. It also has a unique cultural touch.

Nobody Wants This is actually a story rooted deeply in identity and belief. It is about a rabbi, or rather, a "hot" rabbi, falling in love with an agnostic non-Jewish woman.

What happens when a religious man falls for someone who doesn’t share his faith? Well, plenty of sparks. The show just gets right into that clash of worlds with a lot of humor. It is about two people learning each other’s love languages. And Nobody Wants This Season 2 just goes deeper with it. But this time, it doesn’t only focus on Noah and Joanne. It also gives more screen time and attention to other couples like Sasha and Esther, as well as Morgan and her new boyfriend, Dr. Andy. The man appears out of nowhere, and suddenly, Morgan’s got a boyfriend.

Let's get into it a bit more.

Nobody Wants This: Dr. Andy

Nobody Wants This does the unexpected in Season 2 when Morgan introduces Dr. Andy, her new boyfriend, at her mother’s birthday celebration. The scene is actually a result of Noah's insistence on celebrating Joanne's family traditions. He organizes her mother's birthday party, but it all becomes a mess.

Morgan walks in all smiles with Dr. Andy, and everyone is confused. Especially Joanne. She is sure something is off. So she sends Noah on a little mission to find out who this guy really is. Dr. Andy is actually Morgan’s therapist! The man she has been seeing for two years. And now suddenly, he is part of the family party.

Dr. Andy is charming, sweet, and a little too perfect. He brings Morgan breakfast in bed and plays live music for her in the mornings. He showers her with flowers and seems to know exactly what she needs. It seems like Morgan feels seen for the first time in her life. She tells Joanne that Andy understands her and that he accepts her traumas and her flaws. It is romantic but also too fast.

He proposes to her during the Purim festival before anyone can even catch their breath. She says yes in front of everyone. But Joanne isn’t buying it. Even their father jokes that Dr. Andy could be a cult leader because he is too good to be true. And who knows, perhaps he is.

Nobody Wants This could have done something really worth watching here. The story had it all. It was a perfect setup for a mystery. They could have explored the feeling that Dr. Andy might not be what he seems. But instead of that, the show lets it all fizzle out.

Morgan confesses to Joanne that she doesn’t really love Andy during the engagement party. She even admits to Dr. Andy that she might have gotten into this relationship because she was jealous of Joanne’s happy life. She breaks up with him then and there. Andy responds with a smile, saying that as her boyfriend, he is shattered. But he's proud of her as her therapist.

The man who started as one of the most intriguing characters of Nobody Wants This Season 2 becomes one of the most forgettable ones. All the signs that pointed to something darker, like his ex being another former patient, and the too-perfect behavior, go nowhere. It is a missed opportunity. Nobody Wants This Season 2 had the chance to turn Dr. Andy into something complex and layered. But instead, he just disappears into sweetness.
