Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline has been in the spotlight for a long time, and with the success of the mystery teen drama, she has become a major icon. However, with great popularity comes scrutiny, which Cline has had to face.
Recently, in an interview with Allure magazine, she discussed how her appearance has constantly changed due to various life events and how people pay close attention to her weight. She said:
"From season to season on Outer Banks, my appearance has changed with lots of factors: stress, breakups, healthy or unhealthy habits with food. It’s normal life."
She continued:
"But the camera, swear to God, picks up everything. Like, damn. Can I not be on my period? Can I not have a beer the night before?"

Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline talks about comments on her weight and body changes
Madelyn Cline plays the character of Sarah Crampton in Outer Banks, the easy-going Kook princess who becomes more involved with the Pogues because of her relationship with John B. Cline and other characters have experienced various changes, leading to their growth.
Viewers have loved the characters since the show debuted in 2020 and have followed their adventurous journey in Outer Banks. Besides the storylines and character development, the physical changes the actors go through haven't gone unnoticed, as Cline mentioned. Fans have been obsessed with her weight changes, which have many reasons and are part of her normal life.
Adding to her comment, she stated:
"People love to pay attention to weight specifically. It's very bizarre to me."
She also added:
"In the comment sections, we are not always family."
While she calls body issues related topics her Roman Empire, Madelyn Cline has also previously talked about her struggles with over-exercising and eating disorders. In 2020, while speaking with E! News, Cline discussed when it started and how her mother helped her during recovery process. She shared:
"I worked out multiple times during the day. All I knew was I wasn't achieving a particular body image, and so I was angry. I was harming myself and starving myself in the process of trying to achieve that."
She further added:
"My mom was a wonderful help in that. She would stand there in the mirror with me and we would list out things that I liked about my body."

The final season of Outer Banks is expected to premiere in 2026. In a recent interview on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cline shared her thoughts on filming the last season and said:
"We’ve been in the thick of it for six or seven years. It kicks our asses. It’s a tough show to shoot, it’s very physically demanding."
She continued:
"Well, I always come back, and I’m like, ‘Oh f***, I forgot how much stamina you need to have to keep up with this show and the elements that we shoot in."
