Since its premiere, Stranger Things has made fans believe one thing: Eleven is the solution to every big problem. Whenever something dangerous or supernatural puts Hawkin's safety at risk, people immediately think that Eleven will step in and solve the issue.

One of the reasons for this is that Eleven has always used her powers and pushed limits to save others. She has always managed to defeat the evil, but things are nothing like before in Stranger Things Season 5.

And endings are often different than what many fans expect. And when it's about twists and turns, Stranger Things never disappoints. Also, there are some characters who exist, but we don't see them on screen.

And one such character is Patty Newby, who might actually be able to put an end to the Mind Flayer. Though unfamiliar to many fans, Patty’s presence adds a new layer to the battle against the Mind Flayer, one that challenges the idea that strength alone can end the threat consuming Hawkins.

Patty Newby is a character who exists quietly in the background of the Stranger Things world, which is why most viewers don’t really notice her. She isn’t someone who appears in the main TV series in an obvious way.

What little connection she has comes through her family. She is the adopted sister of Bob Newby, a character who appeared briefly but became very well-liked by fans. Even so, the TV show itself almost never talks about Patty, making her seem unimportant at first.

Her real role becomes clearer in Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which is a stage play that officially belongs to the show’s story. This play focuses on events that happened long before the Upside Down became a known threat.

During this period, Patty is shown as someone who doesn’t quite fit in while growing up in Hawkins. She’s smart, quiet, and emotionally distant from the people around her. She feels separate from her classmates and doesn’t feel like she truly belongs.

The transformation within her begins with Henry Creel, who later became known as Vecna. But their relationship was not built on strength or a desire for control or a sinister purpose at all because they were both feeling lonely and unwelcome.

Both Henry and Patty were left feeling isolated from each other, and this helps redefine the interpretation of Henry as he evolves into the character of Vecna, unlike many of his friends and family, who now only view him as pure evil.

He can be viewed differently through Patty's eyes. The fact that Patty was the only person who truly understood Henry shows that he did not become the monster he became through pure will alone or out of some inherent evil nature, but instead that it was outside influences that changed him.

Why Patty and not Eleven may hold the key to defeat Mind Flayer in Stranger Things

Eleven’s strength has always been physical and psychic. She confronts danger head-on and takes down her enemies. This has worked most of the time, but the Mind Flayer is different.

It doesn't just hurt people. It manipulates them, controls them and even breaks them. And because of this, strength isn't the only solution to defeat this evil being. While Eleven might not have the ability, Patty seems to be the character who can fight against the Mind Flayer.

Patty Newby has an emotional connection with Henry as she knows what kind of person he was before becoming Vecna. If the Mind Flayer’s power comes from isolating and controlling people, then the way to defeat it might be by restoring Henry’s sense of self.

Patty doesn’t try to destroy him. She tries to reach him. So, at the end of Stranger Things, the key to winning may not be raw power, but breaking the control itself. That’s why Patty, not Eleven may hold the ultimate power.
