Netflix has begun production for its latest literary suspense K-drama Notes from the Last Row, starring Weak Hero Class star Choi Hyun-wook.
On May 29, 2025, Netflix Korea confirmed the cast lineup for their upcoming K-drama, which is based on a popular Spanish play, El Chico de la última fila.
The official synopsis for Notes from the Last Row reads as follows:
"Secret Classes with a Crazy Professor and a Boy at the End of the Classroom. A suspense drama about a boy whose mind is unfathomable and a failed writer obsessed with his writing."
The K-drama is led by Veteran actor and Oldboy fame Choi Min-sik and Weak Hero Class 1 star Choi Hyun-wook.

Weak Hero Class and Oldboy stars to lead Notes from the Last Row: Plot overview
Weak Hero Class fame Choi Hyun-wook is set to star in Netflix's new K-drama Notes from the Last Row. The actor will play the role of Lee-Kang, a mysterious student who always sits in the last row of his literature class.
Notes from the Last Row follows the story of Heon Mun-ho, a gifted and once-promising writer whose literary career had great potential. However, he now leads a quiet life as a literature professor and always remains grumpy due to his failures in his youth.
While nothing excites Mun-ho now, he is suddenly ignited with purpose when he sees Lee-Kang's unique writing assignment, the kid who always sits in the last row of his class.
Mun-ho even sees his writing talents and the promise of a bright future, and decides to mentor Lee-kang through private literature and writing classes.
However, Notes from the last Row will soon turn this academic relationship into a volatile one, which will consume everyone around them. As their classes increase, Mun-ho will become obsessed with Lee-kang and his unique talents and will start to project his failed dreams and aspirations onto his student.
This obsessive relationship will explore deep human emotions of jealousy, insecurity, and regret.
Who is in the cast for Notes from the Last Row?
Notes from the Last Row has an interesting lineup of cast members. Veteran actor Choi Min-sik will bring Heon Mun-ho to life, a grumpy literature professor, burdened by his literary career failures. He will obsessively give private lessons to his last row student.
Min-sik was recently seen in Exhuma. The veteran actor is known for his intense portrayal of human emotions and got his breakthrough role in 2003's Oldboy. He has since acted in many projects, including I Saw the Devil, Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, and Lady Vengeance.
Choi Hyun-wook will play the role of the last row student Lee-Kang. His unique writing talent will earn him private lessons from Mun-ho, but soon their relationship will turn obsessive and toxic.
Hyun-wook's breakthrough roles came with Taxi Driver and Racket Boys. He is also known for D.P. 2 and reprised his character Ahn Soo-ho in Weak Hero Class 2 for a special appearance.
The additional cast for Notes from the Last Row includes South Korean actor Huh Joon-ho, who is famous for his work in Buried Hearts, Kingdom, and Snowdrop. He will play the role of Kim Su-hun, Mun-ho's classmate and fellow writer whose career took off, unlike Mun-ho's.
Kim Yun-jin (Money Heist: Korea- Joint Economic Area) will play the role of Ahn Eun-joo, Su-hun's wife. Lastly, Jin-kyung (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) will play the character of Jo Hyeon-suk, Mun-oh's wife.
