Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline says filming can feel like “a torture ritual” as she prepares for the final season of the series - Here's all about it

Madelyn Cline is preparing to leave the series Outer Banks, where she is one of the lead characters, Sarah Cameron. The series is in its shooting stage of the last season. The actress recently opened up in an interview with Interview Magazine, agreeing that she had thought of quitting the entertainment industry.

When asked by the interviewer when she had this thought, she said:

"I can say with my entire chest, every single one I’ve ever done. I’m on set a lot, when I’m swimming with rats or yesterday, we were—oh, I can’t say anything. I’ll just say they put us in the elements. Yesterday I was soggy, and there was a lot of wind, and I was cold."

She continued:

"And I didn’t even have the worst of it. I was standing there like a wet rat, really uncomfy. I think I have athlete’s foot now. [Laughs] I definitely have an amoeba. I was just like, this is a torture ritual. I’m not complaining. I’m very grateful. On very physical jobs sometimes you have to put yourself through the wringer, and like any job, there’s some days you just don’t want to do it."

On the other hand, the actress also showed gratitude for the opportunities she's getting. Created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, the Netflix series features Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and Madison Bailey in the lead roles. Along with the last season of Outer Banks, Madelyn has one more uploading project lined up titled Day Drinker, which is currently under filming.

When is Outer Banks Season 5 coming out?

Last month, Netflix released a press release announcing that the network has begun the shooting of the fifth season of Outer Banks, which is also the last season of the series. According to Netflix, Outer Banks season 5 will be releasing in 2026. However, the official release date hasn't been revealed so far, keeping it under wraps.

Speaking of the upcoming and final season, the show's creators said:

"Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We can't wait to show everyone what we have in store this season — it's going to be a wild ride."

The cast of Season 5 includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Cullen Moss, Jonathan Daviss, Tony Crane, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Fiona Palomo, and Austin North.

Once released, it will be exclusively available on Netflix.

Madelyn Cline talks about the emotional side of acting

Madelyn Cline recently appeared in the movies The Map That Leads to You and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Being in the lead role of Outer Banks, the actress has appeared in every episode of the series since its first season.

Speaking of the emotional and tough side that comes with the new acting roles, she told Interview Magazine:

"Then there’s other jobs where it’s a little bit more of an emotional thing, where you put yourself into some sort of mindset or mental space to be empathetic towards a situation or a character that’s actually really, really difficult to be in. You come home at night, and you’re just restless because you’ve disassociated from yourself for the day, and you need to come back. That’s hard."

Madelyn, speaking of her upcoming project, Day Drinker, added that that is another deeply emotional project, calling it a crime thriller. However, she didn't give many details about the same, leaving the plot a mystery for her fans.
