Starz has finally set a premiere date for Outlander Season 8, the final chapter of its historical fantasy series, adapted from Diana Gabaldon's beloved books. The eighth and final season will have ten episodes, which will begin streaming on Starz from March 6. New episodes will be released weekly every Friday.

Outlander Season 8 is the closing chapter in Jamie and Claire's epic love story that spans two centuries, magically entwined through time-travel. The final season will follow the couple's journey to their home in Fraser's Ridge, after they decided to step back from America's fight in the Revolutionary War.

Here is the complete cast and character guide for Season 8 of Outlander.

Outlander Season 8 cast: Meet the returning main players

Twelve years after its premiere, Starz's longest-running original title is nearing its conclusion and the cast is gearing up for the final chapter. Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will return in Outlander Season 8 as the lead couple, whose electrifying chemistry made this series into a masterpiece. Here are the main returning cast members:

Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser: Heughan has played the leading man in Starz's historical series since its inception. The final season will mark the actor's return to his iconic role of the kilt-wearing Jamie Fraser, the ever-loving husband and the loyal warrior to his country. After Jamie resigned from the Continental Army commission, he will journey back to Fraser's Ridge with his 'Sassenach.'

Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser: Naturally, Balfe's Claire is the next main player in the Outlander Season 8 cast. Like her co-star, Balfe has played the lead and time-traveling heroine in the show since its inception. Claire is brave, resourceful and extremely loyal to her husband. The final season will see Claire fighting for her family at Fraser's Ridge with Jamie.

Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie: Unlike Heughan and Balfe, Rankin joined Outlander in Season 2 but he remains an important part of the cast, who is also a time-traveler like his mother-in-law. After his accidental adventure across time, which briefly reunited him with his father, Rankin's Roger will also return in the final season.

Sophie Skelton as Brianna Fraser MacKenzie: As Claire's daughter, Brianna is another time-traveler in the Starz series. After a series of harrowing adventures across time, she was finally reunited with her husband, Roger, and their children. The Season 7 finale suggested that Brianna will return to Claire and Jamie in the 18th century with Roger in Outlander Season 8.

In addition to these main players, the final season will also feature the return of supporting characters. They are listed below:

John Bell as young Ian Murray: Bell plays young Ian, Jenny and Ian's son, who married Rachel in Season 7.

Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter: Izzy's Rachel was the latest addition to the show in Season 7, who will reprise her character after she married Ian and started her life on Fraser's Ridge.

David Berry as Lord John Grey: Berry's John Grey is another returning Outlander Season 8 cast member. John Grey has remained one of the most loyal confidantes for Claire and Jamie throughout the seasons.

Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom: Vandervaart's William underwent emotional turmoil after he learned that Jamie is his biological father. The final season will bring more revelations for the character.

César Domboy & Lauren Lyle as Fergus and Marsali: While this beloved couple was suspiciously absent from Season 7, many reports have suggested that both Fergus and Marsali will return for one final appearance in Outlander Season 8.

In addition to these returning characters, the final season has also added three new cast members, namely Kieran Bew (House of the Dragon) as a retired British soldier, Captain Charles Cunningham, Frances Tomelty (Strangers) as Charles' mother, Elspeth Cunningham and Carla Woodcock (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder) as Amaranthus Grey, another member of the Grey family.

Catch the Outlander Season 8 premiere on Starz on March 6, 2026.
