Diana Gabaldon's fantastical universe will conclude with Outlander Season 8 on Starz. The historical time travel series premiered in August 2014 and will conclude Claire and Jamie's epic story after eight long seasons. From Castle Leoch to Lallybroch and finally to Fraser's Ridge, the lovers have come a long way and the final season will follow them through the American Revolution, as they fight to protect their loved ones and their home.

Outlander Season 7 teased that Brianna and Roger will also likely settle with their parents in the 1770s timeline. However, it remains to be seen what the future holds for them in the show's final season.

As Outlander Season 8 concludes this fantastical saga filled with adventures and heartbreaks, it must address some mysteries, some of which have been prevalent in the universe since Season 1.

Here we look at 3 of such mysteries, Season 8 must address before the Starz series ends.

3 questions Outlander Season 8 must answer

1) Who was the mysterious highlander from the Outlander premiere?

Every seasoned fan is desperately waiting for this mystery to be solved in Outlander Season 8. The opening moments of the Season 1 premiere featured a mysterious Highlander looking up at Claire from the Inverness streets in 1940, during a drizzling night. Just when Frank tried to approach this unidentified man, he quickly left and was never mentioned again in the show. Albeit a small detail, this has plagued seasoned fans for seven seasons and should be solved in Outlander Season 8.

This mysterious figure was a Highlander and wore their signature flat cap and kilt, which has led many fans to speculate that it was Jamie. Since our protagonist is not revealed to have any time-traveling powers, how and why was he visiting Claire in 1940? Only the final season can solve this mystery.

2) Is Faith really alive?

The biggest mystery teased for Season 8 was Claire and Jamie's daughter, Faith's fate. In Outlander Season 7, Claire made the shocking discovery about the Pocock sisters' mother's name, which opened the gates to this riveting mystery in the final season. While Master Raymond had healing powers in Gabaldon's books, Faith's storyline is original.

It remains to be seen whether Claire's suspicion will come true or if Faith's survival was a mere red herring and tease for the final season. Additionally, even if Faith were to be alive all this time, there is a chance that she time-traveled to a different period (like her mother) or was separated from her daughters. If Faith lived, would she still be alive in Outlander Season 8? That is one of the biggest mysteries that the final season should solve before the series concludes for good.

3) Will Claire learn the truth about her parents?

Fans are looking forward to another reunion for Claire in Outlander Season 8, with her time-traveling parents, Julia and Henry. Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the prequel series, has retconned a major detail about Claire's parents and revealed that they did not die in a car accident (like her daughter believed), but were transported to 18th-century Scotland like their daughter decades before.

While Henry and Julia are struggling to survive in the past in their spin-off show, Claire is unaware of their existence, let alone the fact that they were fellow time-travelers. With this detail, many fans are wondering if our heroine will discover this truth about her parents before the show concludes.

Additionally, the 'Mrs. Fraser' tease in the Outlander Season 8 teaser has many fans believe that it is Jeremy Irvine's (Henry) voice, and he might finally reunite with his daughter in the final season.

Outlander Season 8 will conclude Claire and Jamie's decades-spanning love story and will premiere on Starz in early 2026.
