Starz has finally unveiled the Outlander Season 8 teaser, which will conclude the decades-spanning love story between Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe).
In addition to an exciting montage of events, featuring snippets from the American Revolution, a move back to Fraser's Ridge and many returning Outlander characters, the teaser ends abruptly with a mysterious voice introducing himself to Claire. The preview cuts to black with a shocking expression on Claire's face, as she whispers, ''Is it possible?''
This haunting mystery has set the stage for the final season and fans are speculating whose appearance has shocked Claire in the Outlander Season 8 teaser. Since Outlander: Blood of My Blood (the prequel series) has also introduced Claire's secret brother and father (Jeremy Irvine), fans are wondering if they could appear in the final season. One shocking theory also suggests that Claire's first husband, Frank, will make a shocking appearance in the parent series.
Here are all the speculations explored.

Outlander Season 8 teaser: Who is calling Claire and why is she shocked?
Seasoned Outlander fans are speculating on the identity of the mysterious person calling for 'Mrs. Fraser' in the recently released Outlander Season 8 teaser. While Jamie is pretty unfazed by this person calling for his wife, Claire is shocked by this intrusion, and asks herself:
''Is it possible?''
This 2-second scene is making every fan rack their brains and fish for clues for the final season. Outlander Season 7 ended with the possibility that Jamie and Claire's daughter, Faith, not only somehow survived but is also Fanny and Jane's mother. The Season 7 finale featured this shocking twist, which will materialize in the final season of the Starz series. While showrunner Matthew B. Roberts was tight-lipped about whether Faith survived, he assured fans that Faith's story will have a definitive solution in the final season.
In addition to this Faith twist, the prequel series has opened several opportunities for Outlander Season 8.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood not only revoked canon about Claire's parents (and revealed that they were fellow time-travelers like Claire) but also revealed that she had a secret brother in the universe, named both William Henry Beauchamp and Simon Fraser.
This twist has fans wondering if this secret brother could somehow pop in Outlander Season 8. While this would indeed be a shocking and happy ending for Claire, it still does not explain why she would be surprised to see her brother, assuming that she is unaware of his existence. This theory that the voice calling Claire could be her brother seems plausible, but Claire's reaction suggests that it might be faulty.
Another popular theory believes that the voice in the Outlander Season 8 teaser is of Claire's father, Henry. Now that Irvine is officially a part of the Outlander universe, he could appear in the parent series and finally reunite with his daughter. While Claire's shocked expression justifies this theory, why would he call her Mrs. Fraser? Moreover, could Henry and Julia really be alive in 1775? Just some food for thought!
And finally, the most bizarre theory of all, but anything could happen in the show's universe. The crisp English accent calling Claire in the Outlander Season 8 teaser could also be Frank, which explains why Claire is bewildered as if she has seen a ghost. While Frank died a long time ago and does not possess the ability to time-travel like many other characters, Tobias Menzies could likely pop up in the show's last season. This would actually knock many socks off, but Jamie would surely recognize Frank, right?
While these three candidates are most likely, Outlander Season 8 could also reintroduce another blast from Claire's past. The tease is surely exciting and is only a preview of the whirlwind that is about to come in the last season.
The final season of Outlander will debut on Starz in early 2026.
