Parks and Recreation cast update: What they’ve been doing since the beloved sitcom ended

Parks and Recreation kept its fans entertained for seven seasons and even now boasts its popularity as one of NBC's most beloved sitcoms in history.

The show ran from April 2009 to February 2015, and has a total of over 125 episodes.

The NBC sitcom follows Leslie Knope, played by the brilliant Amy Poehler, who is a mid-level bureaucrat in the town of Pawnee, Indiana, where she handles the Parks Department. The show follows her journey as she and her team solve everyday crises.

1) Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt played the role of Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. His character was much beloved, and he continues to work as an actor after the show ended.

Pratt joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peter Quill, also known as Star Lord. As Quill, he has played important roles in many MCU films, even spearheading the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Moreover, he also plays a leading role in the Jurassic Park franchise.


2) Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones played the role of Ann Perkins in Parks and Recreation. However, her rise to fame began much earlier than the show, as she had already appeared in shows like The Office and movies like The Social Network.

After the show ended, Jones appeared in other movies like Friends With Benefits, and even went on to write and direct one of the most critically acclaimed Black Mirror episodes, Nosedive.


3) Nick Offerman

Nick Offerman played the role of Parks Department director, Ron Swanson, and his character was one of the most beloved ones in the show.

After the end of Parks and Recreation, Offerman continued to dazzle the audience with his stellar performances in many movies and shows like Fargo, Civil War, Pam and Tommy, and also The Last of Us, which won him an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2023.


4) Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza shone in the role of April Ludgate, as she elegantly played the apathetic and dry-humored character in Parks and Recreation. After the end of the show, she played stellar roles in many acclaimed shows.

She starred in shows like Black Bear, Emily the Criminal, and The White Lotus. Most recently, Plaza took on the role of Rio Vidal in Disney+'s mini series, Agatha All Along.


5) Adam Scott

Adam Scott joined hands with the rest of the cast of Parks and Recreation when he took on the role of the awkward and shy Ben Wyatt. His character eventually goes on to marry Poehler's Leslie Knope.

After Parks and Rec ended, he went on to play important roles in many different TV shows and movies, including the likes of Big Little Lies, Ghosts, and The Good Place. However, it was his role in Severance that won him critical acclaim.


6) Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe took on the role of Chris Traeger in Parks and Rec, who is the partner in crime to Adam Scott's Ben Wyatt. In the show, he ends up getting married to Rashida Jones' Ann Perkins, and even has two children with her.

After the end of the show, Lowe has starred in Unstable, Dog Gone, and Holiday in the Wild. Beyond his acting prowess, he also donned the director's cap for the television film, The Bad Seed.


7) Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler played the lead character of Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation. However, she had made a name for herself in the comedy industry with Saturday Night Live, much before she took on her role in Parks and Recreation.

Even after the show, she went on to continue her career in comedy, while also starring in various films and TV shows like Sisters, The House, Wine Country, and Moxie. She even did some voiceover work and is most well known for voicing the character of Joy in Inside Out and Inside Out 2. She also hosts her own podcast called Good Hang with Amy Poehler.


8) Aziz Ansari

Aziz Ansari brought the character of Tom Haverford to life with his brilliant acting in Parks and Rec.

After the show ended, he went on to win two Emmys and a Golden Globe for his Netflix series, Master of None. He wrote, directed, and starred in the series himself and won immense praise for his performance in the same. Beyond that, he even starred in The Bob's Burgers Movie and is currently busy with his new comedy film, Good Fortune, which is scheduled to release in October 2025.
