A man falls dead on a bus in Patience Episode 6

The final episode of Patience starts at a bus stop, and as the episode progresses, a man is shown to be dropping dead inside the bus. The cause of death is initially speculated to be tuberculosis, but Patience thinks it might be zoonotic infections, which turns out to be true.

Investigating the identity of the man who died, it is revealed that while his ID mentioned that he is Roland Mitchell, he is actually Tyler Rose, who was working undercover for the Counter Terrorist Force.

As Tyler’s identity is revealed and Bea and Patience further dig into the case, their access gets cut down by Bea’s boss, Baxter, on the orders of Zara Blackwood, a counter terrorism agent. However, they are not provided with any explanation behind this action.

However, this restriction does not stop Bea and Patience from working even though the former herself has fallen ill because of an anthrax infection and her cough is worsening. Unfortunately, Bea’s attempts at investigation are found out, and she is called by Baxter, where Zara is also present. While Baxer seems rather reluctant to sanction Bea for suspension, Zara warns her against investigating further, as she has previously been asked to do.

It is only after Patience and the rest of the team’s investigation that it comes to light that it was Zara who was behind Tyler’s murder. The duo had been married previously, but things went south when Tyler fell in love with Climate Defense Force’s founder, Jean Crick, while working there.

The two also had a child together, and Tyler faked his death to start a new life with Jean. However, Zara eventually came to know about what happened and thus took her revenge on Tyler.

Patience opens a puzzle box from her mother at the end of Patience Episode 6

While the finale was quite difficult for both Bea and Patience, things ended well for them. At the end of episode 6, Bea is shown to have recovered from her infection and pays Patience a visit with her son Alfie. The kid asks her about a puzzle box that she had from her mother but never opened.

This leads to Patience opening the box, thinking she might finally find the answer to her mother leaving her as a child. However, the box turns out to be empty, though there is something taped underneath the box that makes her smile. While it is not revealed what she found or why that made her happy, it marks a rather content ending for the season finale.

Patience can be streamed on PBS.
