James Gunn provides a disappointing update for Peacemaker Season 3. With just two episodes left to be released, Season 2 is close to its end, and fans were anticipating news of a new season.
However, while talking to Collider, creator James Gunn shared that there is no news of a Peacemaker Season 3. He said:
"It is not right now."
Gunn further shared that while Peacemaker Season 3 might not be in the works, we will still get a chance to see those fan-favorite characters in DCU.

Peacemaker Season 3 gets a disappointing update
Season 2 of Peacemaker has been a thrilling journey for fans of DCU, with numerous easter eggs and cameos, with Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor also appearing in the latest episode. However, apart from the cameos, the narrative of the alternate universe also helped in creating an intriguing storyline.
Furthermore, with Chris and his friends of the 11th Street Kids dealing with a new challenge with a dimensional portal, the new season is even more exciting and thrilling. However, as James Gunn, the creator of the superhero series, shared with Collider, Peacemaker Season 3 is not currently in the works.
However, fans should not get disappointed with the news as he further stated that even if there is no Season 3 of Peacemaker, these characters will still appear in other projects of DCU.
To add to his previous comment, he said:
"I think that people should— that doesn't mean there aren't plans for these characters, but it's not necessarily Season 3 of Peacemaker."
He further teased that since there are still two episodes left of Season 2, some of the questions about the characters might also be answered in the finale of Season 2. He said:
"And then people should watch Episode 8 to see what happens, because maybe some of your questions will be answered in that episode by itself."
Therefore, while Peacemaker Season 3 might not be the next stop for Gunn, he assured that they will still exist and will be seen in other projects as well, and further shared that the finale of Season 2 will also answer questions about some characters of the show.

Peacemaker Season 2 premiered on August 21, 2025. From the beginning of the latest season, the show has been bringing back canonical characters from the DC universe, such as members of the Justice Gang and several others. However, the latest cameo of Nicholas Hoult's character Lex Luthor, which first debuted in the Superman movie earlier this year, has become the highlight of this season.
In Episode 6 of Season 2, Rick Flag Sr. is seen going to meet Luthor at Belle Reve, where he makes a deal with him about finding out Chris's dimension portal, in exchange for which, he promised to get him out of Belle Reve and shift him to Van Kull Prison, with no metahumans around.
This new development will surely become a dangerous threat to Chris in the next two episodes. Besides John Cena, who portrays the titular character, the show also includes Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Nhut Le, and several others.
