Percy Jackson and the Olympians tackled one of the most emotionally challenging scenes of the second season in its latest episode as the characters make their way to C.C.'s Spa and Resort and end up facing Circe and the Sirens as well. This episode was the farthest that the Disney adaptation has ventured in terms of sticking to the source.
In a major change, the episode brought together the Circe and the Sirens' Island tracks to make for an emotional and challenging narrative in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. Apart from this big change, there were several minor changes in how these tracks made for a lot of emotional development for Annabeth as well as Percy.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians actor Leah Sava Jeffries opens up about her emotional scene

In The Sea of Monsters, Percy and Annabeth find themselves at C.C.'s spa and resort after Clarisse's ship explosion and then end up at the Sirens' island. Following these encounters, they finally find themselves at Polyphemus' lair to find Grover. However, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 makes a major change in the narrative by layering the C.C. and the Sirens' encounter.
C.C., aka Circe, is a powerful sorceress who makes use of her powers and her spa resort as a way of forcing (or helping) the heroes to discover their one fatal flaw, but these flaws are then used by the sirens to ensure that none of these heroes ever tries to leave the island. So, even though Circe helps the heroes and develops their character, her intentions or her methods are anything but altruistic.
Leah Sava Jeffries opens up about her scene with the Sirens, calling it one of the most developing moments for her character, as it helped her character confront her fatal flaw of hubris and unlock a new level of self-discovery. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 altered Annabeth's interaction with the sirens when they had her believe that it was her mother saving her in order to deceive and lure her in even farther with their song.
Leah Sava Jeffries explained how this scene was logistically difficult and was one of her toughest experiences on set:
"That was one of the hardest days of my entire filming life. I'm not even joking. It was freezing cold outside, because the way we filmed it, it was half blue screen and half practical, and it was outside. There was freezing cold water, but then there was hot water. When they put the hot water on me, it freezes. Not even acting, my real self came out, and I was genuinely freezing. I literally was shaking. Ms. Andra, literally looked at me, and she was like, "Almost there. We're so close." Craziest day ever. I hope BTS was there. You guys need to see that."
She went on to add that the physical struggle in filming that scene was all worth it if it meant that the best adaptation of the scene came to life for the audience:
"This is what I need to go through in order to give people the best adaptation of what they need to see. I really hope that everyone loves it."
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 makes some big changes from Riordan's books, but they are for the good of the story and have only added to the narrative so far.
