Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn) went too far in Pluribus Episode 4 to figure out how she can reverse the Joining. She is too adamant about that; she didn't really care about a hospital patient who previously saved her from a grenade blast. It is really a troubling situation at this point in the Vince Gilligan show.

In the latest episode, called Please Carol, the show's protagonist tries thiopental sodium, which works sort of like a truth serum, on herself. She takes a look at how much of it isn't lethal, injects her with it and sets up a camera to record the effect.

It works like wonders as she sees herself doing weird things and breaking down, which also tells us she is too broken after the loss of her partner, Helen (Miriam Shor), whose body wasn't able to withstand the 'Happiness virus.' But this chemical led to some serious consequences in the show.

After Carol had found that this drug can work like wonders, she had a plan for Zosia (Karolina Wydra). She wants the truth from her, as Carol already knows from her chat with Zosia from Pluribus Episode 3 that the hive mind isn't capable of lying to her.

However, the hive mind is reluctant to tell Carol how she can reverse the Joining so that everything on the earth comes to normal. So, Carol is visiting Zosia in a hospital in Pluribus Episode 4, where she tries to manipulate Zosia into saying that there is a way to reverse the Joining.

Zosia simply can't tell her, but Carol gets the answer from her reaction, which came from manipulated questions. Knowing this, Carol becomes a bit sweet for the first time in the show. But it is clear that something is going on inside her mind. She's just playing along.

As she is in the elevator, she drugs Zosia's IV with thiopental sodium, and as both are now outside for 'some fresh air,' the drug kicks in. Zosia is under the influence and is trying to resist the effects of the drug so that she won't tell the truth.

This almost kills Zosia, as the Others come together and try to stop Carol from doing so. And while they are pleading with her in Pluribus Episode 4, Zosia has a cardiac arrest.

Up until this point, we all know that the hive mind is connected and whatever happens to one person, will affect everyone connected to it. However, this is not true when it comes to drugging an individual body connected to the hive mind.

You see, Zosia is under the influence of the drug, but the Others are well and good. But they know that this can be harmful for them, as Zosia's individual body might tell the truth and Carol would be able to reverse the Joining.

They cannot even kill Carol or Zosia, as they aren't designed for that. So they ask Carol if they can save her if she has finished with her business there.

Pluribus Episode 4 is currently available for streaming on Apple TV.
