More about Pro Bono

The upcoming K-drama follows the story of Kang David, an eccentric judge who is popular for his work and also his clean image. However, due to a shocking situation, his life turns upside down, and he has to resign from his job. He then becomes a public interest lawyer and begins working in a non-profit organization to help the vulnerable clients.

In this new pursuit, he is helped by Park Gi-jeum, another lawyer who puts everything to fight for justice for vulnerable people. David and Gi-jeum will fight cases for big and powerful clients and use the money to take cases of people who have nowhere else to go for help due to being lack of money.

Pro Bono brings Jung Kyung-ho back to the legal K-dramas after his hit series, Oh My Ghost Clients, which followed him bringing justice to ghosts. Along with him, the tvN K-drama also stars So Joo-yeon, Seo Hye-won, Lee Yoo-young, Yoon Na-moo, Kang Hyung-seok, Choi Dae-hoon, and Kim Kap-soo, among several others.

During an interview with The Chosun Daily, Kyung-ho and Joo-yeon talked about their onscreen chemistry, where they both praised each other, with Kyung-ho saying:

"I’d give her a perfect score. So Joo-yeon’s portrayal of Park Gi-jeum’s pure energy felt like it purified my character, Kang Da-wit. Our timing was spot-on."

He further shared how grateful he was to get a chance to work with director Kim Seong-yoon and writer Moon Yoo-seok. Furthermore, Joo-yeon, who plays the character of Park Gi-jeum, also echoed the same feeling and praised her co-star for his support, and also praised the writer and director, and stated:

"Director Kim Sung-yoon is a perfectionist with wit, so his ‘cut’ signal was absolutely trustworthy. Writer Moon Yoo-seok’s script clearly conveyed his intended message, and I approached my role with the desire to fully embody that essence."
