Josh Duhamel’s name pops up in Seth Rogen’s The Studio in one of the more funnier episodes, and the actor has just one grievance. His name is pronounced wrong. Duhamel shared that he is flattered by the mention of his name in the Apple+ TV series, but he hoped they had reached out to him to let him know about the name-drop or to check how to pronounce his name.

While appearing on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, Inside of You, Josh Duhamel spoke about how his name became a part of the hit series. As per Deadline, Duhamel said,

“There’s a whole episode with me being cast as the Kool-Aid Guy… Yeah, somebody who was watching it told me about it. And I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s cool, I love Rogen and all those [guys]. But you’d think they would have called me and said like, ‘Hey, do you mind if we use your name and likeness for this?'."

Josh Duhamel further added,

“Or at least, ‘How do you pronounce your name?’ Because they pronounced it wrong.”

Josh Duhamel has appeared in several successful ventures, including Transformers, Shotgun Wedding, Life as We Know It, and New Year’s Eve. He is currently portraying the role of Staten Kirkland in Netflix’s Ransom Canyon.

Apple TV+’s The Studio namedrops Josh Duhamel

The Studio follows Matt Remick (played by Seth Rogen), who is the new head of Continental Studios, a movie studio that is facing several financial and creative challenges. Along with his overzealous team, Matt is putting together the cast for a new Kool-Aid movie.

In The Studio’s Season 1 episode 7 titled Casting, the Continental studios are preparing to announce the cast list with Ice Cube to voice the animated Kool-Aid man and Sandra Oh as Mrs. Kool.

Josh Duhamel and Jessica Biel are to play a live-action couple. But the team hit a snag when they wondered if casting a black person as the Kool-Aid Man would receive backlash for stereotyping. Meanwhile, they also ended up replacing Duhamel and Biel with Don Cheadle and Keke Palmer.

As per Duhamel, his name is pronounced ‘do-hah-mul’ instead of ‘duh-mel'. During the interview, when Rosenbaum shared that the setting for the series is satire, the mispronunciation could have been deliberate. Duhamel replied,

“They might have. Maybe. I don’t care. I’m kind of flattered by it.”

The series was recently renewed for a second season. Watch The Studio exclusively on Apple TV+.
