In Episode 5 of Queen Mantis, Su-yeol confesses to the team about working with Yi-shin to capture the copycat killer. The team then gets to meet and work with the Mantis. The killer sends a cellphone to Su-yeol with videos of all its victims’ final moments and demands to talk to Yi-shin.
The team lets the duo talk while also monitoring the conversation and deduces that the next victim would be someone from the field of performance art. However, they are proven wrong when they think the victim was Seo-jun, but it turns out the serial killer went for Park Min-jae and killed him.
In Episode 6 of Queen Mantis, the killer calls Yi-shin again, which helps the team to locate his location, but they are still unable to capture him. Furthermore, Na-hee asks Seong-gyu to look into Su-yeol and find some dirt on him. This results in the team learning about Su-yeol’s relationship with Yi-shin.
Furthermore, they also discover the identity of the copycat killer, but are still left with no lead to capture him.

Queen Mantis Episode 6 recap: The team fails to capture the copycat killer
In Episode 6 of Queen Mantis, with the help of Yi-shin’s conversation with the killer, the team learns that the fourth murder will take place in a hotel. The team leaves to catch the criminal while asking Yi-shin to delay the murder by talking to the killer.
Before leaving, Yi-shin tells Su-yeol that some bloodshed will be imminent to catch the killer. As they reach the hotel, they spread out on each floor to look for the killer. As the killer begins the process of killing the man, Na-hee asks Su-yeol to pull the fire alarm. However, he shuts her down by telling the same thing that Yi-shin told him.
But Na-hee, not wanting to let the victim die, pulls the alarm, resulting in the killer escaping the hotel after beating Su-yeol up.
Queen Mantis Episode 6 recap: Su-yeol learns about the identity of the killer
After failing to catch the killer, Su-yeol goes to meet Yi-shin in Episode 6 of Queen Mantis. After talking to her, she hums a tune, which stuns the duo as they both remember the killer humming the same tune. They deduce that the killer was present when Yi-shin killed her fourth victim, Kang Yeong-ho.
She later tells him that there were two injuries in Yeong-ho’s body that she did not inflict. It is suggested that the copycat killer might be Yeong-ho’s son, Yeon-jung, who was abused as a child by his father. Na-hee and Su-yeol decide to meet Yeon-jung’s mother, who has dementia. They find out that Yeon-jung had visited his mother, who tells them that her son was dressed like a woman.
Su-yeol deduces that since Yeon-jung was mentally troubled due to years of horrifying abuse, he might have wanted a new identity and might have gone through a gender-affirming surgery.
Queen Mantis Episode 6 recap: Su-yeol’s truth comes out
In Episode 6 of Queen Mantis, the team begins to look for the identity of the transwoman who is now their suspect. Furthermore, due to Yi-shin’s warnings, Su-yeol asks his Chief to provide security for his wife, Jung-yeon.
While searching for the identity of their copycat killer, after surgery, Su-yeol meets a nurse. She tells him that she did meet a woman, who said that she was happy with her surgery because people considered women harmless.
While Su-yeol excitedly tells his team about his discovery, the team does not appear as enthusiastic as he is. Later, he learns that they know about Yi-shin being his mother with the help of a photograph that Seong-gyu found in Min-jae’s store.
Na-hee is angry at Su-yeol for lying to the team and asks him to leave the team. Jung-ho tries to intervene but is given the ultimatum of choosing between Su-yeol and the team. Su-yeol leaves the police station and later tells his wife about his real identity, which shocks Jung-yeon as well.
