Amazon Prime Video's Reacher Season 3, which adapted Lee Child's Persuader, finally regained footing with the latest chapter. After a mediocre sophomore season, the show is finally getting its pace back.

The recent season's monumental success also paved the way for a spin-off series, Neagley, based on actress Maria Sten's character, and Reacher Season 4, in which Alan Ritchson will reprise his titular role again.

Season 3 followed Reacher on an undercover mission, during which he finally concluded his vendetta against Xavier Quinn. In addition to a high-stakes mission and intense action, the season also introduced an important character in Child's universe, General Leon Garber.

While Garber appears only in a minor flashback sequence, his appearance suggests that the character can make a major comeback in the upcoming season.

More on Leon Garber in Reacher Season 3 in our story.

Reacher Season 3 introduced an important character from Jack's past

In Reacher Season 3, Jack was on a personal mission to eliminate Quinn, who had brutally killed his partner Dominique Kohl in the past. Jack's vendetta against Quinn expanded beyond professional bounds as Kohl was under his wing, and she died on his watch.

In Reacher Season 3 Episode 4, he tells the story of his former partner to Agents Duffy and Villanueva, which was the perfect opportunity to introduce another important character from Child's universe and for Reacher.

Andreas Apergis' Gen. Leon Garber is introduced in Season 3. He is Reacher's senior officer, who guides him in making the right decision. The episode also establishes that many of Reacher's decisions during combat are based on Garber's teachings and seem to have a solid relationship.

What's even more interesting is that Garber is not a part of Child's Persuader and was specially introduced in Reacher Season 3, suggesting that he might return in the upcoming season with a more prominent role.

Garber's involvement in Reacher's upcoming seasons would also make sense because it would be an interesting dynamic. We have seen him work alone throughout three seasons, and it would be exciting to see his relationship with a senior from his past.

In addition, many of Child's books explore Reacher's story with Garber, and the Prime Video show is yet to explore his military past, which would be an interesting premise.

How can Reacher Season 4 bring back Leon Garber?

While Leon Garber appears in five Child books, Die Trying and Tripwire are the most popular. Not only are they connected, but Ritchson has expressed his desire to work on Die Trying's adaptation.

Talking to Men's Health, the Reacher actor revealed that Die Trying is his favorite book among the series:

''I would love to see that [Die Trying's adaptation] happen. And so far, there's been a lot of discussion about whether or not we should or should not. I guess we'll see what the future holds. I'll find a way.''

The second novel in the series, Die Trying, introduces Leon Garber as Reacher's senior officer. It shows how Garber saves Reacher from a serious offense by backing him up. Already an interesting premise, the titular character could use some support in the upcoming season.

Not only is Die Trying a perfect choice to bring back Garber, it will also bring some much-needed continuity in the Prime Video series, which has struggled with so far.

Since Die Trying's events are connected with Child's third novel, Tripwire, adapting these two books is the perfect way for Reacher Season 4 to maintain some continuity.

It would be interesting to see which book the series adapts next and whether Garber appears in Reacher's future installments.
