Rivers of Fate ending explained
Rivers of Fate takes the audience on a suspense-filled journey from the get-go, as Janalice (played by Domithila Cattete), a 15-year-old teenager, gets kidnapped by a s*x trafficking ring. Meanwhile, Preá (played by Lucas Galvino), a young reluctant river pirate who is craving to carve a new path, is unexpectedly pulled into the dealings of the trafficking ring. And then enters Mariangel (played by Marleyda Soto), a mother and wife looking to avenge the murder of her family. The connection between the three strangers becomes the focal point of the story.
The series starts with an intimate video of Janalice getting leaked in the school. Disowned by her parents, she goes to live with her aunt. There, she is harassed by her aunt’s boyfriend, adding to Janalice’s helpless state.
In the other storyline of Rivers of Fate, Preá is expected to lead his criminal group along the river. He will have an intense showdown with Gigante (played by David Santos). Mariangel loses her husband and son during the gang’s conflict. With no help from the authorities, she decides to take the matter into her own hands.
Preá’s gang kidnaps Janalice, though he is more empathetic towards her. He has no choice but to take her to one of the more notorious traffickers called Zé Elídio (played by Claudio Jaborandy). Janalice’s world takes a turn for the worse when she is put together with other girls, who are being readied to be auctioned off. The auction is arranged by Philippe Soutin (played by Matthew Partham).
Mariangel is looking for help when she encounters Officer Amadeu (played by Sandro Guerra). He is looking into the kidnapping of Janalice and also searching for his missing goddaughter. They manage to find the operations of the trafficking gang. Even though Amadeu dies during the process, Mariangel continues. She is now essentially on a war path as she starts putting down those responsible for her family’s murder and even gets closer to finding Janalice.
Preá learns about the auction and decides to put together money so he can buy Janalice and take her out of the miserable place. Mariangel also gets someone to attend the event to help rescue the teenager. But Janalice independently assumes responsibility and manages to make a run for it when she sees an opening.
As she escapes from the place, she would meet Preá. However, before he could help her, Philippe Soutin arrives at the scene, and in an intense impasse, they both shoot each other and are killed. At the nick of time, Mariangel arrives at the scene and takes Janalice with her. She brings her back to her mother, but Janalice doesn’t want to be with her family. After all, they did turn a blind eye to her harassment at her aunt’s house and didn’t even care to look into her kidnapping. Instead, she chooses to be with Mariangel. Both are set to start a new life.
In Rivers of Fate, while Preá finds his salvation in his death, it does bring forth the grim and ruthless world of crime. A devastated Mariangel goes from a family woman to an avenging soldier to a protector. And Janalice finally chooses to leave behind her family, who have only ever neglected her, and finds a safety net with Mariangel.
