The penultimate episode found Rob breaking down after Henry's death and crossing the line when he kidnaps Lord Warwick and burns down his palace. His emotional instability leads to Friar Tuck making a decision and stepping away from the group, leaving him. Now, Rob has a bigger target on his back than ever. Apart from the Sheriff, this time around Queen Eleanor has asked Guy of Gisborne to kill Rob, and the sociopathic man will do anything to make sure that Rob and the rebellion die. As Rob and his group of outlaws formulate a plan of attack after Marian informs them about Guy of Gisborne (among other things). While Rob is confident in his plan, his group of outlaws is anything but, and they're convinced that this is their last stand, and essentially a do-or-die situation. John Glenn, in his conversation with Collider, explained about Rob's emotional position in the Robin Hood season finale:"Rob has spent [a huge part of the season] running from his destiny, and I think that Marian is, of course, part of his destiny. There was obviously friction and turmoil in that relationship. But this character, this iconic idea that we call Robin Hood, was also part of his destiny, as well. He adds:"At the end of [Episode] 9, like all proper heroes, he's still running away from that. But he has to turn back and face his destiny, not just head-on, but willingly and with acceptance. So, I think if there's one word about where Rob is at, it's acceptance in the finale."Robin Hood (Image via MGM+)As Rob struggles on his journey to acceptance in Robin Hood, the creators reveal that for a story of this proportion, the finale had to be grand by definition. It has to take the action and the character emotions to an epic level, something they've tried to achieve in the season finale:"It's a level of spectacle and epicness, a scale that we've been moving towards and teasing over the course of the season. And not just in a big battle and siege of a castle, but also in depth of performance, emotion, taking the characters to a more epic level in terms of what's at stake for them and the nature of the performances."He concluded that their goal was to take these epic characters and to:"Shoot them in a way that just feels truly epic. I think that was very much John's and my idea of what the finale should be. So, there's a scale of performance against the backdrop that is bigger than even we expected to pull off, and it really does have a great, epic quality to it."The stakes are deeply emotional and personal, and if the co-creators are to be believed, the season finale of Robin Hood delivers on all of these aspects. The Robin Hood Season 1 finale is set to premiere on December 28, 2025, in a few hours!Keep reading Soap Central for more such interesting insights into your favorite shows!
