The cast of Running Point season 2 is getting filled with talented actors from film and television, who have left a mark through their comedic and dramatic work in recent years.
According to Deadline, the new cast members include Robert Townsend, who plays Syd's father in The Bear; Richa Moorjani, who played Zoya Zaveri in Alien: Earth; Blake Anderson, who was the co-creator and star of Workaholics; Tommy Dewey, who played Alex Cole in Casual; and Ken Marino, known for playing Ron Donald in Party Down.
The rest of the show's new cast includes Jake Picking (Rock Hudson in Hollywood), Duby Maduegbunam (Wayne in Caught Up), and Aliyah Turner (Krystal in Power Book III: Raising Kanan).
Let's look at more details about their characters in Running Point season 2.
Running Point Season 2 casts eight new actors to join Kate Hudson and Brenda Song
Running Point season 2 is well on its way to Netflix, which means fans will get another chance to meet Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, trying to handle the LA Waves Basketball team. Brenda Song will join her as her chief of staff and her close friend, Ali.
Justin Theroux, Scott MacArthur, and Drew Tarver as her brothers, Cam, Ness, and Sandy, respectively. Toby Sandeman, Fabrizio Guido, and Chet Hanks will also return as series regulars in Running Point season 2.
Netflix's Tudum reveals that Robert Townsend will play Norm Stinson, who is:
"an excellent (and grouchy) veteran basketball coach who knows how to get the best out of his teams, but not always how to communicate."
Richa Moorjani joins him as Aruna, whom Tudum describes as:
"LA Waves’ incredibly blunt star accountant who can finagle her way around any number of financial hurdles."
Speaking about Blake Anderson, he is going to play Cam's friend, Leroy, while Tommy Dewey will play the Toronto Trappers' general manager, Mangnus. Tudum describes Ken Marino's Al Fleischman as:
"the self-appointed 'toilet king of Orange County” who wants better courtside seats to the LA Waves."
Otherwise, Jake Picking joins the second season as Tommy White, and Duby Maduegbunam as Benson, while Aliyah Turner plays Zoé Debay, a former child star who is inching closer to becoming an A-list actor.
Ike Barinholtz, who famously played Sal Saperstein in The Studio, is a writer and executive producer on this project along with Mindy Kaling and showrunner David Stassen. After the renewal was announced, Kaling shared her excitement with Netflix's Tudum about returning for another season, saying:
“We are so thrilled to be able to deliver a Season 2 of Running Point to the fans of the show. We still cannot believe the response from audiences — thank you to everyone who has watched!"
She further added,
"Thank you to our partners at Netflix, Warner Brothers, our star who brought this show to life, Kate Hudson, and, of course, executive producers Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis, without whom there would be no Running Point.”
Running Point Season 2 is yet to receive an official release date from Netflix.
