Ryan Murphy’s upcoming popular anthology series, American Love Story, also known as Love Story, added another member to its already stellar cast. As per Deadline, Omari K. Chancellor has been cast to play the real-life designer, Gordon Henderson.

Henderson and Carolyn Bessette were both working for fashion icon Calvin Klein when Bessette first crossed paths with John F. Kennedy Jr. Their relationship will be explored in Murphy’s Love Story, a spinoff of his acclaimed anthology series American Crime Story.

Love Story will narrate the story of Bessette and JFK Jr.'s romance, their marriage, and their tragic deaths, just three years after their wedding, and will also highlight several personal difficulties the duo had gone through throughout their relationship.

More on this in our story.

Omari K. Chancellor will play Gordon Henderson in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story

As mentioned, Deadline reported that Chancellor has been tapped to play the character of Henderson, who was a close friend of Carolyn Bessett and even helped her to get into the wedding gown, which was designed by Narciso Rodriguez. Henderson is also the one who designed JFK Jr.’s wedding suit for his wedding to Bessette.

Chancellor Henderson would be a crucial character in the Love Story series due to his close relationship with Bessette, as both of them worked for Klein. Henderson was a design assistant, and Bessette was a publicist for Klein’s fashion house, where she met JFK Jr.

Aside from the confirmation of Chancellor joining the series, no other information about his character narrative has been shared.

More about Ryan Murphy’s Love Story

Chancellor might be the latest addition in the real-life romance story of a popular American couple, but the cast is filled with many other popular Hollywood faces who would play famous historical figures. For instance, Naomi Watts will portray Jackie Kennedy, with Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Kelly playing the characters of Carolyn Bessette and JFK Jr.

Apart from them, the cast also has added Alessandro Nivola, who will play Calvin Klein, Bessette’s boss, Grace Gummer will appear as Caroline Kennedy, Leila George as Kelly Klein, a friend of Bessette and CK’s ex-wife.

Recently, Murphy compared Pidgeon being criticized for her outfits as Bessette to the real Bessette herself, who had to go through the same type of public scrutiny for falling in love with a famous man. While talking to Variety, he said:

"We’re writing a story about a person – an unknown person – who falls in love with the most famous man in the world and suddenly she can’t leave her house. She was constantly being photographed, being called a c**t by the paparazzi."

He further added:

"They’re doing to our Carolyn, what they did to the real-life Carolyn. It’s not fair."

The anticipated Ryan Murphy series, Love Story, is expected to premiere in the Valentine's week of 2026.
