Golden Globe winner and Reservoir Dogs star Steven Vincent Buscemi recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he talked about how he got his role in Apple TV's The Studio.

The 67-year-old actor, also well-recognized from his contribution to the HBO crime drama Boardwalk Empire, had a short but iconic cameo in the first episode of The Studio.

According to Buscemi, he "got the script" of the hit comedy show from his agent at first. At that time, he was busy filming one of his movies in New Zealand. He added that he wanted to read the script, seeing it was from Seth Rogen, but his schedule was too packed to consider taking up the part. He said,

"And then Seth called me and he says, 'Look, we love you, and we want you to..and I (said)..of course I will do it."

According to Steve Buscemi's statement on The Tonight Show, the Emmy-winning star read the script of Apple TV's The Studio after his agent got in touch with him. As he jokingly added that the script had "horrible things" about him, which eventually got "toned down".

He further said:

"You know, who is this, bug-eyed, you know, corpse-like, whatever? I can't remeber (laughs)."

However, despite his busy schedule with multiple other projects, Steve Buscemi agreed to do the role after Seth Rogen called him. He said he had a lot of fun with the team, especially Martin Scorsese, who was "so funny". In the same interview, Steve Buscemi also shared funny stories about how people on set would often mispronounce his surname.

The Studio recently garnered quite some social media attention owing to the unique plotline and an unexpected number of guest appearances - from Martin Scorsese to Olivia Wilde. It is a story of an aspiring producer named Matt Remick (portrayed by creator Seth Rogen himself) who struggles to find the right balance between creativity and the obvious demands of the film industry after he is assigned a very crucial role on behalf of a film studio.

The Studio currently holds a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes and so far has been a streaming success for Apple TV+. The satirical comedy has already been greenlit for a second chapter. Here's a list of some of the cast members in the Seth Rogen show:

  • Seth Rogen as Matt Remick, who is the fresh new face of a film studio called Continental Studios
  • Ike Barinholtz as Sal Saperstein, VP of the studio, who is also a close friend of Matt
  • Kathryn Hahn as Maya Mason as the head of Continental Studios' marketing team
  • Bryan Cranston as Griffin Mill, the CEO of Continental Studios
  • Catherine O'Hara as Patty Leigh, who is the ex-head of the studio, as well as a guide to Matt
  • Chase Sui Wonders as Quinn Hackett, the ex-assistant of Matt, who later gets promoted to a more impactful role
