Severance is a mysterious show about a company called Lumon that uses a procedure known as severance to separate its employees’ work memories from their personal ones. The show has several memorable characters, but there is one character who refuses to leave your mind. She appears for only a short time, yet she changes everything.
She is the one person in Severance who knows how the chip works. She is also probably the only person who tried to undo it. Her name is Asal Reghabi. She is a key player in the plot of the show.
Reghabi is also the one who confirms Gemma's existence. She tells Mark's sister that Gemma was last seen alive inside Lumon. That one line makes every viewer sit up because it is not a small thing to say. It forces you to look at Lumon again and wonder what is really going on inside those walls. It also throws several questions our way about Gemma's "accident".
Reghabi also matters because she treated Petey. She tried to help him reintegrate, and his painful decline tells us that the danger is real. Nothing about her is vague. She knows how to implant the chip because she worked for Lumon, and she knows how to attempt a deactivation because she learned the system from the inside.
Her failure with Petey and her promise to help Mark feel like two ends of the same story. The former is a warning, and the latter is a hope. This is what makes her one of the most important characters we still do not completely understand.
Severance needs to answer Reghabi’s biggest questions in Season 3

Severance sets Reghabi up as someone who walked away from Lumon for a reason, and Season 3 needs to tell us what that reason was. She had access to the severance surgery process, and that is not something a low-level employee gets. Someone at Lumon trained her and trusted her with confidential procedures.
The show never tells us who that person was or how deeply she was involved. It also never explains what pushed her to break away. Viewers deserve to know if she left because of guilt or if she learned something dark that made her run. Severance keeps that part under wraps, but the plot cannot move forward without it.
Severance also needs to give us a clear answer about Petey. We know his reintegration failed, and we see him collapse in front of Mark. This was not a mere accident. It was a process carried out by Reghabi, and something went wrong in a serious way. Maybe his body rejected the process, or maybe the chip had damage. It could also be that the method was not stable when she used it. The show keeps these details hidden, but the mystery cannot stay hidden forever. Season 3 must explain what exactly happened to him so that viewers can understand the risk Mark has taken.
The show also creates a huge question around Gemma. Reghabi tells Mark she last saw Gemma alive inside Lumon. It's unclear if she saw Gemma conscious or if she saw the severed version of Gemma. Was Gemma a patient or a subject? Every possibility changes the direction of the show. Season 3 has to make this moment clear.
The show also hints that Reghabi may not be entirely free from Lumon. A person who knows how to reverse the chip is a threat. Lumon would never ignore that. We already know that she is in hiding. But she could also be watched or be used without realizing it. Fans have wondered if she is acting alone or if she is part of a small group of people who are fighting Lumon from the outside. Season 3 can confirm if she has allies or if she is a lone figure trying to do the right thing with limited tools.
Severance has one final task. It must reveal her end goal. Reghabi risks her safety to help reintegrate people, and that is not a casual act. It is painful and dangerous. If she is doing it to make up for something in her past, then the show needs to say so. If she is doing it to destroy Lumon from the outside, then that truth needs to come forward. And if she is doing it because she knows something even bigger about the chip, then Season 3 needs to put that truth on the table. Her story is the key to understanding how identity and memory work in Severance.
