Shark Tank Season 17 Episode 3: Repaint Studios' Billie Asmus pitched her Repaint Tray, seeking $250,000 for 5% of her company

The recently released Shark Tank Season 17 episode featured Billie Asmus pitching her "reusable heavy-duty silicon paint tray liner with a lid." For that, her original ask $250,000 for 5% stakes in her company.

Billie Asmus from Hampton, Iowa, pitched her interesting product to the Sharks:

"Let me paint you a picture. You're finally painting that bedroom you've been putting off for the last six months. You've got your playlist on and your roller is ready. And just as you're about to start, your dog starts barking. And then you're getting a phone call from your mom. And the kids, they're suspiciously quiet in the other room."

She noted that tying a plastic bag around the tray would turn the paint "crusty as a pancake" and paint-brush stiff as a board. As a result, individuals would need new paint brushes and more paint.

"Now multiply that by millions, Sharks. Because every year, it's likely...there's over 240 million plastic paint tray liners that end up in landfills. Sharks, say goodbye to dried-up disasters with the Repaint Tray," added Billie.

Her repaint tray was the first reusable, heavy-duty silicon paint tray liner. It comes with an airtight lid. Billi shared that her Repaint Tray could keep the paint fresh up to 21 days.

Listening to Billie Asmus' pitch, Shark Tank's Lori Greiner reacted that it was pretty cool. Sharks were given the trays to inspect. Kevin O'Leary asked her about the cost and selling price. Billie shared that the retail price was $39.95 while the production cost was $13. She added that she had just renegotiated with her manufacturer and brought down the price per unit to $10.50.

She also revealed that she launched it last year, and she was under a million dollars in sales. For the current year, she stated that they projected to reach up to $1.3 million, along with making at least $300,000 from it.

Shark Tank's Lori asked her to share about herself and her background. Billie Asmus talked about her love for "flipping furniture." She shared that she started her own small business of refinishing and refurnishing furniture. It was then, she had the idea, after she kept on losing paint and paint brushes.

After discussing her sales and figures, Shark Tank's Kevin offered her $250,000 for 20% stake. Lori Greiner opted out as she had worked with a similar product before.

Another Shark, Barbara Corcoran, offered her $250,000 for 15%. Joanna asked Billie about her end goal.

"My end goal is to build a full paint product line or paint supply product line. Bucket liners, you know, trim trays..." shared Billie Asmus.

She said that before making the decision, she wanted to hear Chip and Joanna's offer. The guest Sharks told her they loved her product and, she was doing was great. However, Shark Tank's guest Shark Chip added that it was a tough business and a tough space. While he noted that he was out, Joanna was still interested.

Billie had two offers 15% stake offer from Barbara and a 20% stake offer from Kevin. After Billie insisted, the Sharks thought about it. The final deal was with Barbara, and the guest Sharks, Chip and Joanna Gaines for 15% of her company.

Billie shared her excitement about the deal and opened up about it via an Instagram video clip, shared on October 12, 2025.

"I just got a deal with Chip and Joanna Gaines and with Barbara for $250,000 for 15% of my company, and I could not be more stoked," she shared.
