Paradise premiered on Hulu earlier this year and instantly garnered a huge following. The political sci-fi thriller kept the audience hooked to the screens with various twists and turns, and was soon renewed for a second season.

The show tells the story of an underground city where the murder of the President brings chaos. Meanwhile, Samantha "Sinatra" Redmond, an elite woman played by Julianne Nicholson, pulls the strings from behind the scenes.

By the end of Season 1, Sinatra is gravely injured after being shot, but as per a recent interview by Nicholson, she will be back to her normal self and will be playing a major role in Paradise Season 2. The actress said in a conversation with Collider:

“She will be up and walking. She won’t be in the hospital bed.”

As Paradise Season 1 progressed, new layers of Sinatra’s personality started to come out, and she went from being a seemingly normal businesswoman to a powerful individual who had some hidden agenda. During her interview, Julianne Nicholson said that Season 2 will bring out even more secrets about her character:

“I'm excited to learn even more about Sinatra. As you say, there's always these reveals that leave people with their mouths hanging open, and I think you can expect a few more of those in Season 2.”

While her fate was left hanging in the balance at the end of Season 1, series creator Dan Fogelman later confirmed that Sinatra is very much a part of the second season. He said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in March this year:

“She’s incapacitated. But Julianne is going to be in the show next year, and she’s not going to be in a bed the entire season. However Sinatra, like any delicious leader, even when she’s a step behind the curve and losing control, she always seemed to find a way out of it and regain control.”

He added:

“So the question of season two is: How does she come back to center? How does she try to regain power? Is she able to? Do the turn of events cause a change in her? Those are all the large questions on the table.”

Paradise is set in a massive underground bunker where President Bradford is killed and his Secret Service agent, Xavier Collins, takes it upon himself to find out what went wrong. Meanwhile, some dark secrets about the bunker’s past and its residents begin unraveling.

Along with Julianne Nicholson, the show stars Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins, Sarah Shahi as Dr. Gabriela Torabi, Aliyah Mastin as Presley Collins, Nicole Brydon Bloom as Agent Jane Driscoll, and Percy Daggs IV as James Collins. The release date of Paradise Season 2 has not been announced yet.

Paradise Season 1 is available to stream on Hulu.
