Landman Season 2 has introduced a new twist in the story as Cooper Norris has unintentionally teamed up with cartel boss Gallino. Poor Cooper thought he was collaborating with a firm based in Odessa that would help his business.

But in reality, the firm that funded him turned out to be connected to Gallino’s cartel. Tommy is now worried about the whole situation. It will be interesting to see how the unconventional partnership affects him.

Series creator Christian Wallace has teased what lies ahead in Landman Season 2 now that Cooper and Gallino are business partners. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Wallace revealed that Cooper has invited serious trouble for himself:

“It's going to make some real interesting trouble for him…It sucks for Cooper in certain ways, but it's great for us as the audience to see how their entanglement is going to play out as the season rolls along.”

While the partnership might be ringing alarm bells for Cooper and Tommy, it will lead to more screen time for Gallino actor Andy Garcia in Landman Season 2. That is what we can infer from Christian Wallace’s comments, as he said:

“Just the fact that we get to see more of Andy in this season and what he brings to the show is so fun and great.”

Series lead Billy Bob Thornton, who plays Tommy Norris, was also present during the conversation. Sharing his side of the story, he teased what is in store for Tommy now that his son is working with a cartel lord. The actor stated:

“It doesn't really tickle you to death when you learn your son's gonna work for a cartel guy. It’s pretty, pretty crazy. I mean, Tommy has a whole lot of ‘you got to be kidding me moments’ and that'll definitely be one of them.”

The whole fiasco started in Landman Season 2 Episode 2 when Tommy found out that Sonrisa, the firm backing Cooper’s oil wells, belonged to Gallino and his cartel. Cooper had no idea that he had mistakenly sought help from a drug mafia. Jacob Lofland, who plays Cooper, revealed during the interview that his character will learn some valuable life lessons from the situation:

“He was looking for any way he could to make this work and that’s what he did. And I think now he goes back and has to figure out you can't always rush into things. You really have to do your research and know what you're talking about — which is what Tommy's been telling him through all out of the first season.”

Landman Season 2 features a stellar cast including Billy Bob Thornton, Jacob Lofland, and Andy Garcia. The cast also includes Demi Moore as Cami Miller, Ali Larter as Angela Norris, Paulina Chavez as Ariana Medina, Michelle Randolph as Ainsley Norris, Mark Collie as Walt Joeberg, James Jordan as Dale Bradley, and Sam Elliott as T. L. Norris.

Landman Season 2 airs new episodes on Paramount+ on Sundays.
