Squid Game is back with Season 3 on Netflix, and fans are excited about who will ultimately win the game this time. Season 3 picks up immediately after the events of Season 2, when Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, tries to stop the deadly game but fails to kill the Front Man. The season ends with the Front Man showing Gi-Hun the cost of being a "Hero," and killing his close friend Jung-Bae in front of him. Gi-hun is again brought back to the game, which continues with the same disturbing challenges, signature tension, and brutality.
Game 1 expects the players to work in two teams — Red and Blue, where the Red players are tasked to kill the Blue players. The game leads to some major deaths again. Gi-hun is called by the Front Man and he reveals his identity to him. The Front Man also gives him an ultimate option to survive and win the game. Read on for the full recap.

Here is what happens in Squid Game Season 3
Season 3 opens with a gripping scene and wastes no time re-immersing the viewers into the brutal world of the show. Gi-hun, who was filled with hope and strength to stop the game once and for all, is now broken and wishes death for himself. He begs the guards to kill him, while declaring their victory in the fight. Therefore the Front Man's reason behind keeping him alive seems cryptic and mysterious in Season 3. On the other hand, Wi Ha-joon's character Jun-ho is still alive and on a determined quest to uncover the truth behind the games. However, he is lost in the seas and is unaware that Captain Park is secretly working with his brother, the Front Man.
Gi-hun redirects his grief toward Dae-ho, a contestant who froze during the rebellion and failed to deliver crucial supplies. Dae-ho's failure was out of fear and not malice in Squid Game. Gi-Hun sees him as a traitor. The first game begins where the players are divided into two teams — Blue and Red, with the Red team being tasked with killing the Blue team players. Dae-ho ironically gets killed in the game as Gi-hun targets him. During the chaos of Game 1, Jun-hee, player number 222, gives birth.
During the second game, Gi-hun has the responsibility to save the baby. Gi-hun, carrying Jun-hee’s newborn, miraculously crosses the rope bridge. In a heartwrenching moment, Jun-hee sacrifices herself to save her baby. As a turn of dramatic events, the Front Man decides that the baby will take up number 222. The players continue to play, and this time they need to choose three people to kill. They choose Gi-hun, the baby and Min-su.
The Front Man then calls Gi-hun, offers him a knife and gives him the chance to kill all his contestants and take the baby away. Although Gi-hun snubs the offer, he keeps the knife. The contestants are then forced to stand atop giant platforms shaped like a square, triangle, and circle — echoing the iconic Squid Game logo. In each round, one player must be pushed off, sending them plummeting to their death. Myung-gi reveals that he is the father of Baby 222. The game ends with three players remaining — Gi-Hun, the baby and Myung-gi.
Jun-ho realises the truth while Gi-hun sacrifices himself for Baby 222 in Squid Game Season 3

Jun-ho learns about the betrayal of the captain. A tussle then ends up with most of his men and Captain Park killed. He is struggling to find his way to the location of the games. Meanwhile, Player 246, who surrendered in the very beginning of Episode 1 and was then eliminated, finds himself alive. He escapes the place with the help of a guard. On his way, he helps Jun-ho with crucial information.
On the other hand, in the game, Myung-gi is willing to sacrifice his baby to win the game. Gi-hun offers himself, but he doesn't believe him. This leads to a tussle between them and Gi-hun attacks with the knife, causing him to fall from the structure. Gi-hun then sacrifices himself to save the baby. The Front Man observes all of this and eventually collects the baby.
Jun-ho, meanwhile, has reached to the spot and watched his brother disappear with the baby without responding to his calls. The Front Man then activates the self-destructive mode, and the whole island explodes.
Therefore, Gi-hun becomes the last person to be killed, and he successfully stops the games at the cost of his life.
In Squid Game Season 3, the psychological duel between Gi-hun and the Front Man is worth watching. The Front Man doesn't see the arena, creating a physical disconnect. The tension now seems more ideological. While Gi-hun is driven by guilt, loss and moral conviction, the Front Man operates using cold logic, trauma, and survivalist philosophy.
Squid Game Season 3 skillfully balances the core horror of the games with slow-burn character showdowns. Whether it is Gi-hun’s internal unraveling, the Front Man’s cold strategic evolution, or Jun-ho’s dogged investigation, the show is no longer just about who survives — it is about who stays human.
