For those who grew up with this series (including me), Stranger Things Season 5 definitely feels overwhelming, especially when it's about Steve Harrington, one of the most loved and handsome characters.
Right from the start, Harrington has been the classic 1980s popular guy who even dates Nancy Wheeler in the first Season of the show. Initially, Steve was rude, jealous, and a little immature.
However, as the story continued, Steve went through one of the biggest personality changes in the entire show. Instead of remaining arrogant or mean, he slowly becomes more aware of his mistakes and starts taking responsibility for them.
Steve forms a close bond with Dustin, and we literally hear them say "You die, I die" to each other in Season 5, leaving fans worried about his fate. So what happened to Steve in the end?
Thankfully, Steve Harrington does not die in the Stranger Things Season 5 finale. Yes, he survived! After that awful second where you think the worst has happened, Jonathan becomes the saviour and makes sure that Harrington makes it out alive.
It was also the moment when Jonathan and Steve realized that they could be really good friends. Or at least stop fighting over a girl and focus on what's really important.
Stranger Things Season 5 finale: Does Steve Harrington die? His fate explained

It finally ends with Stranger Things Season 5. Growing up with the characters, making some of the wild fan theories, and asking the Duffer Brothers not to kill their favorite characters, it was really hard to say goodbye to this amazing series on Netflix.
And when we say fan-adored characters, how can we not mention Steve Harrington? The most handsome and kind guy in Hawkins. And by the end of Stranger Things Season 5, one thing is very clear: Steve survives.
Despite all the danger, fake-out moments, and emotional tension, the series closes with Steve alive, safe, and very much part of the future. The series intentionally plays with the fear of losing him, but it ultimately chooses not to kill him off.

Stranger Things Season 5 finale: Steve's near-death moment explained

Steve's most terrifying moment comes in Stranger Things Season 5 episode 8 (the finale of the course), during a mission inside the Upside Down. While dealing with a dangerous situation at the radio tower, things go out of control.
As the structure is violently hit and begins to collapse, Steve loses his footing and plunges downward. The fall puts him in immediate danger, creating one of the most stressful scenes of the finale.
And thanks to the Duffer brothers for making our hearts skip a beat for a moment with that blackout and Dustin's scream, hinting that the worst might have happened! Thankfully, Jonathan steps in. He manages to catch Steve by the arm, stopping him from falling to his death.
Moments later, the truth is revealed: Jonathan never lets go. He pulls Steve back up, saving him. Dustin, overwhelmed with relief, immediately feels relieved and admits he truly thought Steve was done for.
Harrington himself later admits how close it was, telling Jonathan that he genuinely believed he wasn’t going to make it. And Jonathan replies, "Just because I don’t like you, doesn’t mean I want you dead", and here, Jonathan once again won many hearts.
Stranger Things Season 5 finale: Where does Steve end up after everything is over

It might be the end of Stranger Things Season 5, but a new beginning for every surviving character, including Steve. He chooses to stay in Hawkins rather than leave it behind. Instead of chasing something flashy, he finds meaning in coaching little league baseball, guiding kids, and passing on what he’s learned.
During a rooftop conversation at the end Steve mentions that he enjoys teaching kids about life and how to make it thrilling and meaningful. No wonder fans used to make edits with Steve being the best mom in the entire series.
But humor aside, Steve's decision is really good. He's changed a lot, but his bond with Dustin only grows. Despite the two clashed and even having a physical fight before the finale, they are inseparable.
To make sure his cool personality stays alive, Steve continues to date until he finds the one. Everyone in the group: Steve, Robin, Nancy, and Jonathan are moving in different directions. So, they decided to meet once a month in Philadelphia.
And this is how the curtain of Stranger Things Season 5 closes.
