TVING's series Study Group debuted in January 2025 and quickly became one of the most popular shows of the year. Featuring Hwang Min-hyun from Alchemy of Souls, the series tells the story of Yoon Ga-min, a first-year student at Yusung Technical High School. Ga-min endeavors to create a study group to prepare for the university entrance exam. However, with his exceptional fighting skills, he ends up protecting Se-hyun, played by Lee Jong-hyun, from school bullies affiliated with a mafia gang.
The K Drama concluded with 10 episodes on a hopeful note for a new season, which has now been confirmed. Studio Dragon, the series' production house, announced that they are starting work on the next season. While the show is in the early planning stages, details about the plot or cast are still under wraps.

Study Group Season 2 is in the works
Inspired by Shin Hyung-wook's webtoon, this series tells a compelling story about bullying and revenge involving Ga-min and his friends. While Ga-min attempts to create a study group, his former tutor, Lee Han-kyung (Han Ji-eun), enrolls at Yusung Technical and aids him in establishing the group.
By the end of the series, the bully Pi Han-wool (Cha Woo-min) faced arrest for his crimes. However, his kingpin father, Pi Yeon-baek, assures that he will handle the situation, suggesting that Han-wool could resurface to cause more trouble for Ga-min and his friends with his father's assistance.
With an ending that indicated the story's apparent comeback, fans were excited to receive the update about the upcoming season. According to Soompi, they also shared details about the format they might use for the new chapter. They mentioned that they might use an interquel, which is essentially a sequel that narrates the story of what happened between season 1 and season 2, providing a link.
Will Hwang Min-hyun return for Study Group Season 2?
Hwang Min-hyun captivated fans with his role as Ga-min, a hardworking student determined to succeed in the university entrance exam while also safeguarding his friends from menacing bullies like Han-wool. Min-hyun commenced his required military service in March 2024 and is expected to be discharged in December 2025.
In season 2, Min-hyun might return to Yusung Technical to study for his exams while dealing with the bullies and possibly more. If he returns to the show, this could mark his comeback project after his military service.
In addition to Min-hyun, other cast members like Lee Jong-hyun and Hong Min-gi may also reprise their roles in the next chapter. However, this remains speculative.
