Survivor Season 49 Episode 2 Elimination: Kimberly Davis, aka Annie was sent home
The second episode of Survivor Season 49 started with the remaining participants from each tribe. This included:
- Uli Tribe: Jawan Pitts, Nate Moore, Rizo Velovic, Sage Ahrens-Nichols, Savannah Louie, Shannon Fairweather,
- Hina Tribe: Jason Treul, Kristina Mills, Matt Williams, Michelle Chukwujekwu (MC), Sophie Segreti, Steven Ramm,
- Kele Tribe: Alex Moore, Jake Latimer, Jeremiah Ing, Kimberly Davis (Annie), Sophi Balerdi.
After the Kele tribe failed to win the essentials in the first episode, the tribe struggles in terms of food. However, Annie felt that the "worst" their conditions were, the "better" it was for her. She thought that if things didn't work out well for one more person, they would:
"Ship another person home and keep this game moving along."
While she made plans not to ally with Jake, as he was "too strong," she shared the same views with her fellow tribe mates as well. As she was sharing her views about Jake with everyone, her ally and friend Alex disagreed with that.
He also referred to Annie as a "one-man band" who didn't realize that the rest of their tribe mates already shared a strong bond with each other. Later, when Jake learned about Annie's take on him, she became the new target.
Survivor Season 49: What happened at the Tribal Council in episode 2?
At the tribal council, Annie and Sophi talked about trust, where each of them shared their views on trusting fellow tribemates. Annie thought that in a game such as Survivor, there was no place for trust, while Sophi believed that to "advance" in the game, one needs to trust in their teammates.
However, Annie thought that trusting in themselves was enough, and there was no need to trust anyone else besides themselves. She said so because she was aware that their fellow teammates were also there to play their game and win the competition.
Additionally, Annie also mentioned that it was her "gut" that led her to believe that she was the one in "control." However, it might also have been an indication that she was going into a blindsiding situation, as she believed that she was in "control."
Later, Annie felt blindsided by her teammates as they all voted against her. As a result, she was eliminated from Survivor.
After her elimination, Annie confessed to the cameras that the reason why she loved Survivor was because, no one could know what was going to happen. While she thought she was the "puppetmaster," she turned out to be the "puppet."
"This is why I love 'Survivor' because you never know what's going to happen. I thought I was on top, driving, being the puppetmaster and I was the puppet. They got me and I'm proud of them honestly. I didn't see it at all," confessed Annie.
Even though Annie was shocked to see Alex's vote going against her, she wished him good luck for the further game.
