Survivor Season 49 Episode 7: What happened during the Merge Meal Reward challenge?

The latest Survivor Season 49 Episode 7 featured a Merge Meal Reward challenge. For that, Sage already had the immunity. So, she didn't participate.

The remaining contestants were divided into two teams: Team Yellow and Team Blue. After the show host announced the task, both teams got started. Initially, Team Blue was leading. However, soon, their opponents got the lead and won the challenge.

Survivor Season 49 Episode 7: Highlights from the Merge Meal Reward Challenge

MTV released Survivor Season 49 Episode 7 on November 5, 2025. The remaining 11 cast members advanced to the next phase of the show. The show host referred to it as an individual phase. He also announced the merger of both tribes. Everyone cheered and was excited to hear the news.

For the Merge Meal Reward challenge, they were divided into two groups of five.

"On my go, you're gonna work together to dig out a massive boulder and push it through a series of obstacles. You'll collect a machete along the way and use it to chop a rope. And continue pushing your large boulder to a very tall platform. You must work together to climb on the top of that platform," announced the host.

After getting on the platform, two members would work on a Survivor word puzzle. The first team to finish would win the Merge Meal Reward. He also mentioned Sage's advantage from the previous challenge. She didn't have to compete in the challenge, as she had already earned the Merge Meal. The participants, except Sage, were divided into two teams.

• Yellow: Nate, Steven, Sophie (Captain), Rizo, and Soph,
• Blue: Jawan, Alex, Kristina (Captain), Savannah, MC.

Soon, the challenge started. Both teams rushed to dig the boulder. After digging for some time, Rizo, Steven, and Sophie tried to push, but it didn't move. Team Blue was leading by crossing their first obstacle. Seeing them all struggling to push the heavy boulder, Sage noted that she was stoked that she didn't have to do that.

Blue Team's MC went up the boulder to grab the machete. For the Yellow team, it was Rizo. Both teams moved further after cutting the rope. The course had many obstacles. So they had to push the boulder through.

Once again, Blue Team was leading. After reaching the platform, Survivor star MC climbed over first. The next ones were Kristina, Savannah, Jawan, and Alex. Yellow Team's Nate went up the boulder first. Later, Sophie, Soph, and others joined. Blue Team started working on their word puzzle game, while their opponents were still climbing over the boulder.

For the Yellow Team, Nate and Sophie worked on the puzzle. For the Blue Team, it was Jawan and Kristina. Everyone was guessing the words from the puzzle. Yellow Team figured it out first. The word puzzle was: That's how you do it on Survivor.

Team Yellow was close to finishing the puzzle. However, Team Blue was still figuring out the correct arrangement of word pieces. With an exciting final few minutes, Team Yellow won the Merge Meal Reward challenge.

Sophie, Soph, Rizo, Steven, and Nate earned the meal. They were sent to their camp to get their reward. Additionally, they and Sage also earned immunity for the next task. On the other hand, the losing team lost a shot at immunity.
