Taking place in the Washington Territory in 1854, The Abandons explores the true nature of frontier life- a time when justice was blurred, and power was everything. The story contrasts two families that come from completely different worlds but become locked in a conflict involving love, loyalty, and greed.

One family has wealth and power built on bloodlines and ownership. The other family is a "found family" of orphans and outcasts who have come together by chance and affection. Their conflict begins with a piece of land that has silver beneath it, but it matures into two crimes, an undisclosed history, and a forbidden romance.

The executive producer of the drama, Chris Keyser explained:

"This first chapter of The Abandons is a classic American story — the frontier, two families — both at war and in love with each other, a battle over who owns the land and who makes the rules."

Keyser continued:

"Smack in the middle of murder and revenge and a bit of illicit romance, we get to explore questions we never seem to get away from: What makes a family? How do you stay good in a bad world? And would you change who you are and what you believe in to protect what you love? "

This upcoming drama isn't just about how people survive in a corrupt world, but also highlights how far one can go for love.
